THE BOND ELECTION.
The election to issue bonds foy
the purpose of erecting u new
school building in Adel will take
place next Thursday. It behooves
every nun who believes in edu-
eat ion to be on hand and cost his
ballot in behalf of the measure.
All or Mind us the towns are
school houses in this

proposition winch others are ea¬
gerly gr isping ?
We already have the best school
system to be found anywhere.
Why shall we not continue to
foster it an;l do all we can for the
cause of education ?

CoL A. T. Woodward, of Val¬
dosta, is a candidate for delegate
to the Democratic national con¬
vention from the Eleventh dis¬
trict, Uul. Woodward is a val¬
iant party worker and has been
chairman of the executive com¬
mittee of Lowndes for three
terms. We would bo glad to see
him elected.
Boy Killed Himself.
Abbeville, Ga,,. March 21.—
Henry Maun, the 12-vcar-old son
of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Mann, com¬
mitted suicide here to-day by
shooting himself through the
heart with a pistol. He had a pet
bird which he was very fond of,
and it got out of its cage to-day
end tlew away. This preyed upon
the young fellow’s mind so that
after lie saw that he could md get
it again he went into the house,
Baying that he would kill himself.
Going into a room, where
was a pistol, lie locked himself in
and almost instantly his
heard a pistol shot, and she ran
to the room, calling him. He
walked to the door and opened it,
aind fell at her feet, dying almost
instantly. The famitv is promi¬
nently connected in this county.
Dr. Henry McDonald, Atlanta.
Atlanta, March 22.—Rev. Dr.
Henry McDonald, the well-known
Baptist divine, who was stricken
with apoplexy yesterday after¬
noon at (he home of his son-in-
law, M. M. Welch, on Washing¬
ton street, died to-day shortly
before noon.
Dr. McDonald was 70 years old
ftiul at the time of his resignation
three years ago, had been pastor
of the Second Baptist Church
here for twenty years.
Locomotive Blew Up.
Waycrogs, Cfn., March 22.—A
locomotive of the Atlantic and
Birmingham Railroad exploded
this morning, and many houses in
the city were jarred by the force

Fire at Pelham.
Felham, Ga., March 22—Fire
to-night totally destroyed the oil
mill and guano factory and thous¬
ands of gallons of oil in tanks.

Judge Lastinger Not to Run.

He feds very grateful for the
many proffers of support that

of the county, but does not feel
like Ire can afford to sacrifice his
business interests in Florida to
enter the* contest.
Ought to be Recognized.

The Adel district has not been
represented in the distribution
of the c .unity offices in a number
of years. It seems to us that (he
time has come for every man in
the district to stand by home, for
only in this way can we hope to
have any chance of success. We
believe that the other districts of
the county ought to help us in at
