Slightly cooler temperatures
and lower humidity greeted 65
teams of anglers at R&R Outdoor
Promotions/Southern Bass An
glers Invitational Team Series
event, which was held at Lake
Point State Park on Lake Eufaula
on July 14th. While the fishing
conditions were physically more
comfortable, the tournament was
a very difficult event for many
anglers, almost half of the field
failed to weigh-in any fish. How
ever, the teams that did find co
operative fish brought in some
very impressive catches.
The team of Max Williams from
Funston, Ga., and Jerry Kennedy
from Ft. Gaines, Ga. brought in a
5 fish-limit of bass that weighed
22.82 lbs. to earn the winner's
check of $2,200.00. They also
had the Big Fish of the tourna
ment, an 8.28 lb. lunker which
earned them an additional
$650.00. This team revealed that
they caught all of their fish using
large Carolina-rigged worms on
precisely 23-ft. deep breaklines
along ledges on the south end of

The second-place team, Jerry
Simmons from Donalsonville,
Ga. and Darryl Stewart from
Slocumb, Al. weighed-in a limit
of bass that weighed 20.13 lbs.
which was good for $1,000.00.
Ironically, this team used exactly
the same technique, right down
to the precise depth as the first
place team to catch all of their
fish.
Third place, which paid
$800.00, went to Bill Lewis and
Rick Duncan, both from Mont
gomery, Al. for a limit of fish that
weighed 19.39 lbs.
The team of David Clegg and
John Bishop, both from Ft.
Mitchell, Al. took home $700.00
for their fourth-place finish with
18.76 lbs.
The husband-wife team of
Travis and Karen Branch from
Leesburg, Ga. brought in the fifth
place 16.35-lb. stringer which
was worth $600.00.
Thirty-eight teams weighed-in
154 fish which weighed a total of
386 lbs. for an average of 2.5 lbs.
per fish. Nineteen teams brought
in a five-fish limit.

(Luke 12:41-44 KJV) Then
Peter said unto him, Lord,
speakest thou this parable unto
us, or even to all? {42} And the
Lord said. Who then is that faith
ful and wise steward, whom his
lord shall make ruler over his
household, to give them their
portion of meat in due season?
{43} Blessed is that servant,
whom his lord when he cometh
shall find so doing. {44} Of a
truth I say unto you, that he will
make him ruler over all that he
hath.
It certainly appears that our
Lord is delaying His appearing
and that He is not very concerned
about the affairs of mankind. We
know that is certainly far from
being the truth of the matter,
though. Bible students know that
God’s word is true and that the
time of Christfs appearing is cer
tainly near, and we’re nearer than
ever before. The most wonder
ful event of all the ages is about
to take place, and I trust you will
be ready for it.
The rapture, or catching away,
of the church can really happen
at any moment now. There is an
air of expectancy in some
people’s lives and they believe
their Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ will appear for them in the
clouds to take them to heaven, to
live with Him eternally. Others
have no clue about the times we
live in. Still others deny the truth
of the bible with all their strength.
Let us all look to the reality of
Godls word for comfort and
strength in these trying times in
which we live.
I must confess, God is helping
us at the East Albany Church of
God, and we are beginning to see
a wonderful gathering of people
hungry to see the power of God.
Ronald E. Parish
People are getting saved and
committed to serving God,
people are being delivered from
the strangle hold of the devil, and
there is great joy in the camp. We
are looking for the soon return of
the Lord Jesus Christ to catch His
bride away.
You don’t have to join a cult or
go off the deep end preparing for
the rapture, you do have to live
right, though. We are not advo
cating finding a cave somewhere
and stockpiling tons of food
awaiting the end of the world.
We do believe that Godls word
is true, and that there is coming a
day that Jesus will appear in the
clouds to take His church home.
We just want to spread the mes
sage that salvation is free and that
heaven is a reality. When Jesus
comes, let us all be doing Godls
work, loving one another and
serving one another, and encour
aging one another in love.
Sincerely
RONALD E. PARISH Pastor,
East Albany Church of God
