Two boating accidents on the
lake this week which brings to
mind all the safety steps we
should follow when boating. If
you don't know them call The

Squad, or us down at Wingate's.
Sylvester Parker of Thomasville
whipped up on a big ole Bass this
week. I'd say near 81 bs. of real
pretty bass. Mr. Jim Trogen had
a live well full Big ole bass in the
5 to 6 lbs. class. Bass in general
has been a little off this week but
that's just fishen.
There was a couple of rite good
catches of hybred's made this
week on spoons and jigs. Larry'
Camble hooked and landed one
at about 8 lbs. for a nice pic.
When you land a hybred you jist
well bring him home cause most
times he will die anyway. He
gives you all he's got when
hooked.
The Perch (specks) took to hit
ting a we bit better this week but
still improvement is needed we
think. Bream has been very good
for those that went after them.

Did you venture out to the Park
Street complex this past week
end to take in some of the Dixie
Youth Baseball Major League
State Tournament? If you didn't,
you really missed out, but it's not
too late! The Tournament con
cludes this weekend with the best
2 of 3 Championship series!
Hopefully our Lee County teams
will be battling for the right to
go to the Dixie Major World Se

ginia. A huge thanks to all the
MANY volunteers that have
made this tournament a HUGE
SUCCESS. Hats off to Jamie
Korona, DYB Major Director
and Tournament Director, who
has done a remarkable job put
ting this tournament together and
having it run so smoothly.
This tournament has truly been
a total community effort. Our

THANK YOU! Without your
help we could have never had the
Park Street Complex looking so
GREAT! My small staff does the
best they can and when you put
the countless number of volun
teers that pitched in prior to the
start of the tournament AND dur
ing the tournament, it makes a
huge difference. Again, THANK
YOU PARENTS AND VOLUN
TEERS!
Congrats to our 12-Under
GRPA Softball STATE CHAM
PIONS! For the third year in a
row. Coach Gene Hollomon has
led his All-Star team to a State
Championship. The first two
years it was the 10-Under State
and this year it is the 12-Under
Championship. Coach Hollomon
along with Buddy Hollomon and
Tim Edwards led a great group
of young ladies to the State
Championship in Tifton, Geor
gia. Looks like we need to get
another State Championship sign
for the scoretower over at the
Kinchafoonee Sports Complex.
A lot of these same girls will be
going to Owensboro, Kentucky
very shortly to participate in the
ASA National Softball Tourna
ment. Seven of our all-stars
along with girls from Dougherty,
Terrell and Sumter County will
represent our area in the ASA
Nationals, coached by Gene
Hollomon. Good luck Girls, go
win a NATIONAL CHAMPI
ONSHIP!
Congrats to Coach Juan
Powell, Coach Cindy Griffin and
Coach Kevin Childs for a third
place finish in the 14-Under
GRPA State Softball Champion
ship Tournament. A lot of this
same group is preparing to go to
Boaz, Alabama for the ISA
World Tournament. Good luck
girls!
Congrats to the Albany A's
travel baseball team for an 18th
place finish in the USSSA 10-
Under Major World Series out in
Las Vegas, Nevada. Five boys
from Lee County played on the
team including Colby Johnson,
Miller Wright, Taylor Howell,
Jon Brock and Jonathan Thomp
son.
