Mrs. Phillips and her husband,
Ted, are the parents of two chil

Students who
rank in the top
of the senior
class are being selected each
month from September - March.
In the spring, an Exchange Club
committee will review student
applications, and students will be
chosen to enter the Youth of the
Year national competition.
The Exchange Club of North
west Albany/Lee County spon
sors the local competition. To be
eligible, students are scored on
their participation and leadership
roles in student government/class
government, newspaper/annual
school publications, musical or
ganizations, debate activities,
stage productions, athletic teams,
and club memberships. They are
also rated according to commu
nity organization memberships
and volunteer service hours,
grade point averages, and special
achievements or awards. In final
competition, students will be re
quired to write an essay to be
scored by a team of national
judges.

Club, Drama Club, FBLA, and
the National Honor Society. Sa
rah has volunteered with the
March of Dimes, the Greatest
Good, the Lee County Chamber
of Commerce, and the LCHS
Vocational Department. She has
also served as a volunteer in con
structing places of worship in
Georgia, Florida, and Alabama as
well as working in the commu
nity to increase Bible knowledge.
She is an active member of
Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her awards
and achievements include the
Georgia Certificate of Merit, first
place in FBLA Region Leader
ship Conference in Desktop Pub
lishing, and first place in the Re
gion Social Science Fair. Sarah
also attends Albany Technical
College as a part of the PSO pro-

the highest grades in AP Lan
guage, World History, Geometry,
and Civics. In addition, she won
first place in Region Debate
2001, first affirmative speaker in
Region Debate, 2001, and third
place in State Debate 2001. She
was a National Forensics League
Tournament qualifier in 1999,
2000, and 2001. She won first
place in the Region Mock Trial
Competition in 2000 and 2001
and was accepted into the
Governor’s Honors Program in
Social Studies. She especially
enjoys politics, history, English
and debate. She plans to attend
Wake Forest University or the
Catholic University of America
with a career goal of entering
politics.
Brittany is the daughter of
Kathy and Donnie Dixon of Al
bany. She is the granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Dixon and
Mr. Lee Hancock all of Fort Val
ley, Georgia. She is active in Na
tional Honor Society, Beta Club,
Thespians, and Drama club. Her
achievements and awards include
perfect attendance in the ninth
and eleventh grades, receiving a
Georgia Certificate of Merit,
nomination for Who’s Who
Among America’s High School
Students, and the Woodman of
the World Award. She was also a
nominee for the Governor’s Hon
ors Program and a member of the
One Act AAAAA Championship
crew. Brittany has volunteered as
a student tutor and as a worker at
Camp Chaos, the Judgment
House, the GA’s and Acteens
through Byne Memorial Baptist
Church. Some of her writing has
been published; other interests
include reading, music, drama,
and art. Through the PSO pro
gram, she attends Darton Col
lege; after high school gradua
tion, she plans to attend Mercer
University and become a psy
chiatrist.
