Hi race fans! Hope you have
all had a good week. Myself, I
am still trying to deal with the
events of the eleventh of the
month. I still can’t make sense
of it all, but then that’s when I
put my faith in God to sort it all
out, and believe me that will be
done. Well in the legends
feature race at Albany Motor
Speedway it was pretty much a
three way shootout. Skip
Nichols, who is always a
contender, newcomer Kenny
Lang, and ole “barnstorming”
Bubba Pollard, who is becom
ing a driver to deal with about
every race. Nichols lead for a
time, and then got a little to
cautious and spun in turn two.
Now Lang in his number 8
leads with Pollard right on his
bumper, and Leesburg’s Bob
Galloway in third. Uh oh!! Lang
lost a shifter linkage on the back
straight and dropped out leaving
Pollard in first and Galloway in
second. And that’s the way it
ended, a fitting finish to a hard
fought race, congratulations to
Bob Galloway on the second
place finish.
Ole Ryan Watkins was back
this week for the Bandelero
race, and I still have yet to see
anyone keep up with this kid,
let alone beat him (of course he
is the Florida state champ) in
any race. And once again he
won from flag to flag, however
he did have a determined Devon
Hall from Lee County right
behind him this time to capture
second place. Todd Williams
normally drives a late model,
but has built a very fast street
stock Camaro, and this week he
proved it. Todd won the street
stock event with Skip Nichols
taking second, Lee County’s
Claus Vinent was running a
strong third, when his right rear
tire decided to take off on its
own, and when it did, it almost
passed everyone else! tough
luck for ole Claus, but I’ll bet
ya he will be back next week,
and with the 39 car he has now,
he is always a contender.
Skipper Saunders ran a good
pure stock race, but there were
several caution flags, seemed
like these folks just couldn’t
stay on the track, or at least in
the right direction, but in the
end Walt Harrell took the
checkered flag and settled it all
right there. He also took home
$400.00 dollars for his trouble.
Come on out next week, and see
the legends shootout with
$500.00 to win. also the little
guys will have the Bandelero
dash for cash, with $300.00 to
win. Well as always it has been
fun bringing all the action from
AMS to all of you. so until next
week, remember if you feel “the
need for speed” don’t do on the
highways, you take it to the
track.
