American Family Radio is sponsoring a "Dear American Soldier" letter writing
campaign. It is important that our military men and wormen know that we support
them. Mrs. Elaine Bennett's first grade class at Lee County Primary School
wrote and illustrated letters to the soldiers. The letters expressed the students'
appreciation for the soldiers protecting our country from danger. The students
said the soldiers were brave and were special and they hoped the soldiers would
get the bad guys out of our country. Pictured are Mrs. Bennett's class with their
letters. Bottom row left to right: Nicholas Bryant, Tanisha Simms, Taylor Brown,
Michael Allen-Rey; middle row I to r: Elaunshae Butts, Ian McHan, Cody Purvis,
Kate Morrow and Nikki Brogan; Standing I to r: Esteban Bustos, Mrs. Bennett,

Veterans Day
by Grace Rhodes
We say we have our freedom
Well, how did we get it, I ask,
How many people had to pay the price
To go and face the task?
Of serving our country over a period of time
Are we aware of the cost of their lives,
They volunteered to help preserve our land
No matter the struggle and strife.
Let’s honor them and show our pride
For those whom we honor come what may,
A memory that we must nor forget
On this great Veterans Day!
