4-H ’ers Compete In Cotton
Boll And Consumer Jamboree
4-H'ers in Lee County tested
their knowledge in consumer
trends at the Tifton Area 4-H
Cotton Boll and Consumer
Jamboree. The annual competi
tion was held November 8 at the
Rural Development Center in
Tifton.
Local 4-H'ers who competed
were: Pictured L - R Bottom.
Kira Rallseur. Bridget Howard,
Kelsey Harrold, Chris Uppole,
Gabrielle Johnson and Ree
Lambert. Top, Holly Ball, John
Goza, Angela Goza, Brittany
Pate and Britny Mills. Not
pictured is David Sapp.
The 4-H Cotton Boll and
Consumer Jamboree activity
featured two facets of competi
tion. Senior 4-H'ers (grades 9-
12) presented a two-minute
speech on cotton. 4-H'ers in
grades 5- 8 prepared a poster to
promote cotton and used the

poster to present a thirty second
commercial. Each contestant
also tested their clothing and
consumer knowledge by
ranking four classes of clothing,
consumer goods or services
from "best to worst" for a
particular buying situation. The
4-H'ers learned how to make
knowledgeable, rational
decisions when purchasing
goods and services.
The Junior team finished
second in the contest and
received cotton canvas luggage.
The Senior team finished
second and received cotton
canvas luggage. They also
qualified to compete in State
Cotton Boll and Consumer
Jamboree to be held at Rock
Eagle 4-H Center in December
against nine other teams from
across the state.
Brittany Pate received a
special award at the contest for
having the top female individual
score overall in the contest.
The 4-H Cotton Boll and
Consumer Jamboree is spon
sored by the Georgia Agricul
tural Commodity Commission
for Cotton and the University of
Georgia College of Agricultural
and Environmental Science's
Cooperative Extension Service.

citizens of Georgia, to decide if
you want to adopt this change.
Simply stated the adopted
resolution would set forth
policies that define the circum
stances of a tax problem. If
there is determined to be a
problem, the resolution would
allow the politician a grace
period of 12 months, not to
have the taxes fully paid, but to
have an agreed upon payment
plan. It should also be noted
that this does not keep anyone
from voting, thus, it is not a poll
tax, as some have suggested.
While this bill is even more
flexible than I personally would
like, as a politician I believe it is
a fair compromise to begin the
process of fixing this problem.
Legally, the bill would include
the following statement when a
person is qualifying to run for
office: no person “who is a
defaulter for any federal, state,
county, municipal, or school
system taxes required of such

person if such person has been
finally determined to owe those
taxes and is more than 12
months delinquent in payment
thereof, but such ineligibility
may be removed at any time by
payment thereof or by entering
into a payment plan which has
been approved by the applicable
taxing jurisdiction but only
when payments under such plan
are not in arrears: provided that
such person has control over
any entity that is determined to
be delinquent shall be eligible
to hold any office or appoint

It is interesting to me that
many of the politicians who are
against this bill are the very
ones that would be affected by
its provisions.
If you would like to have the
ability to vote on this Constitu
tional change, please contact
your State Senator or member
of the State House of Represen
tatives and ask them to support
the resolution, HR126.
