With the signing of the final or
der last week by Judge Harper,
the defendants may proceed with
the renovation of the home. The
order further declared that the

elsewhere and therefore consist
ing of other than new materials
at the time of placement onto a
lot within Hickory Grove Planta

same otherwise meets the require

Four of Hickory Grove Planta

The defendants plan to paint the
brick and construct a connected
garage or carport to have roof

by the Architectural Control
Committee.
As to the defendants" counter
claim for damages caused by the
allegedly wrongful injunction and
delays caused by this action, the
defendants shall have judgement

with interest at the statutory rate.
The parties shall be responsible

Lee County Teacher
Obtains Highest Level
On First Attempt
Achieving what few even
try, Kim Dobson has become
a National Board for Profes
sional Teaching Standards
certified teacher on her first
attempt.
The process for becoming
certified requires both as
sessments and a portfolio of
the teacher’s work.
Dobson’s submission
spanned November of 2000
to April 2001. Finally on No
vember 16, 2001, she was
notified that she had been
awarded the highest level of
certification a classroom
teacher can achieve.
To prepare for certifica
tion, the Board provides a
book of standards that re
flect the quality of nationally
certified teachers. Dobson
indicated that this process
required a lot of reflection
on what she teaches and the
impact she has on learning.
Some of Dobson’s portfo
lio included tying in social
studies with the arts, build
ing a classroom community,
following the progress of a
student’s literacy, and intro
ducing a science concept
(shadow and lights). She was
also required to video of her
self teaching and to critique
herself.
Dobson spent every week
end and all days off working
on her certification. She es
timated that she has spent at
least 400 hours dedicated to
this process. With reim
bursement from the state ex
pected, Dobson spent $2,300
to be certified.
Nationally certified teach
ers can expect a ten percent
increase in pay and opportu
nities for advancement. Dob
son will also have the oppor
tunity to assess other teach
ers who are seeking this cer
tification if she chooses.
With thirteen years teach
ing experience, Dobson is a
kindergarten teacher at Kin-
chafoonee Primary School.
She stated that this rigorous
process has helped to make
her a better teacher.
