People are griping about the sea

wrong with nice, pleasant
weather?

Blood jb'Uue
The American Red Cross
Community Blood Center is in
need of healthy people to donate
blood on a regular basis. This
generous gift will help some
one in desperate need - an acci
dent victim, a cancer patient, a
child with sickle cell anemia or
someone undergoing an organ
transplant. Some of these pa
tients will be members of our
own churches. Modern medi
cine could not be practiced
without volunteer blood donors.
The need for blood is always
growing because of more avail
able medical procedures, and
since blood expires at 42 days,
the supply must constantly be
replenished. Sooner or later,
you or a loved one will prob
ably need blood. In this coun
try an estimated 60% of the
population is able to donate, but
only about five percent of this
number actually do.
During the upcoming holi
days, the American Red Cross
will have the same recurring
problem that almost every other
blood collection has and that is
to have an adequate blood sup
ply during the year-end holidays
of Christmas and New Years.
With holiday school vacations,
travel and visiting, all regions
are constantly plagued with
blood shortages during the
months of December and Janu
ary.
