Kenneth Leslie Krivos,
76, of Leesburg, GA
passed away, Friday,
July 9, 2021 at his resi
dence. Funeral services
were conducted Monday,
July 12, 2021 at First
Baptist Church of Lees
burg. Dr. Josh Posey and
Rev. Calvin King offici
ated. Interment followd
in Leesburg Cemetery
with military honors.
Born in Elizabeth,
New Jersey, Mr. Krivos
had resided in Leesburg,
GA since 2012 moving
from Granite Falls, NC.
He was an Army veteran
serving in the Vietnam
War, a member of the
American Legion Post
# 30 and retired from
Philip Morris USA as
their sales manager.
He was preceded in
death by his parents,
Benjamin Krivos and
Agnes Elizabeth Tarcy
Krivos
Survivors include his

Lavon Willard Boyett
Lavon Willard Boyett,
88, died Sunday, July 11
at Magnolia Manor in
Americus, GA.
Her funeral service
was Saturday, July 17,
2021 at the First Baptist
Church of Albany, 145
Oakland Parkway with
interment followiing at
Crown Hill Cemetery.
The Rev. Dr. Butch
Knight officiated.
Lavon peacefully de
parted her life on earth
on Sunday July 11th
surrounded by family
to begin her promised
reward of everlasting
life in Heaven. Lavon’s
life was centered around
God, family, church and
friends. She supported
and served them all.
She was saved in 1941
and never wavered from
her walk with the Lord
through good times and
bad. With her family
she was involved in all
aspects and attended all
functions her husband
or kids were involved in.
She was at every game
or event cheering on the
whole team, not just her
kids or grandkids. She
led by example via her
service to others with
various organizations
and charities. With her
church she was involved
on almost every com
mittee at one point or
another but was always
involved in teaching
Sunday School and sing
ing in the choir. Through
her work at Walden &
Kirkland, First Baptist
Church of Albany, the
Pastoral Counseling
Center and Palmyra Park
Medical Center Rehab
she befriended many cli
ents and co-workers and
maintained these friend
ships throughout her
whole life. Lavon leaves
behind a gift for service,
caring and empathy that
will live on in all those
that she touched.
Lavon was preceded
in death by her husband,
Norman E. Boyett, Jr.,
her son, ISt. Lt. John
Boyett, USMC, her par
ents, John Thomas Wil
lard and Laura Lancaster
Willard, a sister, Minnie
Parrish, and a brother,
Nelson Willard.
Lavon is survived by
a son: Andy Boyett,
Albany; two grand
daughters: Drew Boyett,
Albany, Sarah Campbell,
Albany; sister in law:
Mary Martin; numerous
nieces and nephews. The
family wishes to thank

Bobby Joe Johnston
Bobby Joe Johnston
passed away unexpect
edly at his home on
Thursday, July 15, 2021.
His funeral service was
held on Tuesday, July 20,
2021 at Kimbrell-Stern
with, interment to follow
at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The Rev. Josh Duck
worth officiated.
Bobby was born in
Albany on October 26,
1939 and graduated from
Albany High School.
Throughout high school,
he was the manager of
the AHS football team.
After graduation, he
managed the scoreboard
at Hugh Mills Stadi
um. Later, his son Joey
joined him, and, together
they worked a total of 58
years for all the football
teams. This was one of
Bobby’s real pleasures.
Another of Bobby’s
pleasures was his love
of automobiles. This led
to his life-long career
in the industry. He
grew up in the family
automotive business on
Pine Ave. Following
high school he worked
with Keenan Auto Parts
and continued to work
through each business
transition from Keenan
to CarQuest to Advance
Auto Parts, ending with
his retirement in 2019.
Bobby was a collector of
antique cars.
Bobby grew up as a
member of the First Bap
tist Church of Albany. In
later years he joined Por
terfield Memorial United
Methodist Church. He
enjoyed participating
in Chi Sunday School
class. Bobby was a ser
vant of the Lord and giv
er of his time and love
to everyone around him.
He considered it a bless
ing to be able to help
others. He truly loved his
family and friends.
Bobby was a member
of the Exchange Club of
Albany since 1984. He
served on the board sev
eral times. He treasured
his friends and partic
ipated in the various
projects.
Bobby was preceded
in death by his parents,
Arthur Johnson and
Fannie Alice McDaniel
Johnston, his sons, Wal
ter Johnston and Joey
Johnston, his brothers,
James Johnston and
Thomas Johnston.
He is survived by his
wife of 39 years, Bet
ty Johnston; daughter,
Susan Esco; sons: Bobby
Kitchens, David Hall,
and Jimmy Fowler;
daughter in law, Stacey
Johnston; granddaugh
ter, Morgan Johnston;
grandsons: David Ligh-
tle and Dylan Lightle;
along with numerous
other grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.

Jesse Merrill “Mel”
Jones, Jr., 70, of Albany,
died Friday, July 16,
2021 at Willson Hospice
House.
His graveside funeral
service on Sunday, July
18, 2021 at Mt. Enon
Baptist Church Ceme
tery in Mitchell County.
The Rev. Trent Corey
officiated.
Mel was born in
Camilla, and moved
to Albany in 1953. He
graduated from Albany
High School in 1968. He
worked with Bruce Jones
Auto Parts till 1997, and
then worked with Flint
Equipment Co. until his
retirement in 2020. He
was the Southwest Geor
gia representative of the
Georgia Wildlife Fed
eration, and he was an
instructor for the hunter
safety course offered by
the Georgia DNR. Mel
was a Past President of
the Southwest Georgia
Sportsman’s Club. He
was a Mason. Mel was
preceded in death by his
parents, Jesse Merrill
Jones, Sr. and Alza
Rountree Jones, and a
grandson, Jesse Merrill
Jones, IV.
Survivors include his
wife: Cheryl Jones,
Albany; 2 sons: Jesse
Merrill Jones, III (Lisa),
Albany, Justin Jones
(Stephanie), Albany; 4

William Garry Bates,
Sr., 65, of Albany, GA,
died July 14, 2021 at
his residence. Funer

Monday, July 19, 2021 at

Baptist Church. Rev.

Garry was born on
May 11, 1956 in Little
Rock, AR. to the late
William Otis Bates
and Lou Ella Bentley
Bates. At the age of one,
Garry’s family moved
to Albany, GA where he
grew up. At a young age,
Garry started working
with his father at Bates
Gas Company. He gradu
ated from Deerfield High
School in 1974, graduat
ed from Albany Junior
College in 1976 and
Valdosta State University
in 1979.
After College, Garry
returned to Albany, GA
and joined the family
business working closely
with his parents, be
coming President and
Owner in 1991. Garry
was a member of Sher
wood Baptist Church,
served as a Deacon, was
a member of the Disciple
Makers Sunday School
Class and was responsi
ble for organizing ushers
during worship services.
Garry enjoyed fishing,
hiking in the Smokey
Mountains and was a
renowned water skier.
He was skilled in jump
ing, trick, barefoot and
slalom skiing. Garry won
numerous awards for
tournament water skiing
including a National
Championship 1st place
medal in 1974 for jump
ing in the Open Division.
He also won a 5th placed
National Championship
Medal for Slalom in the
Men II Division in 1987.
Garry was inducted into
the Georgia Water Ski
Hall of Fame in 2015.
Survivors include his
wife of thirty-six years,

son, 79, of Leesburg,
went home to be with Je
sus on Saturday, July 17,
2021, while surrounded
by her loving family.

Born May 13, 1942, in
Moultrie, Mrs. Johnson
was the daughter of the
late Howard S. Smith
and Willie Bee Hesters.
She worked in retail at
Carmens in the Mall for
several years where she
never met a stranger.
She was a prayer war
rior, anointed singer, and
Sunday school teacher
who devoted her life to
The Lord from an early
age. She was a mem
ber of The Church of
God and attended Life
Church of Leesburg un
til her health declined.

husband, Medford John
son of Leesburg; chil
dren, Jerry and Vickie
Johnson of Leesburg,
Jackie and Rebecca
Johnson of Nashville,
TN, Elaine and Rev.

Born March 3, 1936, in
Ocilla, GA, Mr. Milner
served our country in
The United States Army
and retired as a captain
with the Albany Fire De
partment with 35 years
of service. He enjoyed
gardening and will be
remembered as a loving
husband, father, grand
father, great-grandfather,
brother and friend. He
was one of Jehovah’s
Witnesses.
