Thank you to
Family, Friends
and Supporters
I would like to take a
moment to say a very
special thank you to all
of my family, friends,
and supporters. The past
few months have been
the most difficult of
my career, and yet the
most rewarding. I have
found that in my darkest
of hours, the light of
those who love me have
brightened my path for
my new career journey.
For over 34 years, I
have worked diligently
to create a specific im
age to my community. I
have built deeply rooted
relationships with my
employees, management
teams, and citizens. I
have strived to be the
person that everyone
calls and who everyone

depends on, because I
want them to know that
they can count on me no
matter the situation.
It is for that reason
that I am reaching out
to you today. As you
now know, I felt forced
to leave a career that
I loved and cherished
when I believed my back
was to the wall. I did
so to protect the im
age that I have worked
so hard to create, but
most importantly, to do
what I believed best to
protect the great citizens
and employees of Lee
County.
All of the memories
and friendships created
will never be lost or
forgotten. My fami
ly is also grateful for
the welcoming, open
arms they have always
received. I am looking
forward to continuing
these relationships as I
begin to create new ones
in Dougherty County as
well.
“Thank you” doesn’t
seem to fully convey
my appreciation, but
I hope you know I am
forever grateful for each
and every one of you.
My only hope from this
point forward is that you
understand the stance I
took, the reason I am no
longer in Lee County,
and I hope that my situ
ation will have opened
eyes and started the
conversations necessary
to help make Lee Coun
ty the truly wonderful
place it has been and,
hopefully, soon will be
again.
Best Wishes & God
Bless,

Georgia Council for the Arts
Grant Helps Albany Symphony
Orchestra Re-emerge
Special to the Ledger
After being sidelined
through much of the
COVID-19 pandemic,
the Albany Sympho
ny Orchestra (ASO) is
ready for a big return.
ASO is planning a full
season of concerts, and
a grant from the Geor
gia Council for the Arts
(GCA), a division of the
Georgia Department of
Economic Development,
will help put on those
concerts.
A total of 218 organi
zations were awarded
266 grants, totaling
more than $2 million in
funding to arts organi
zations throughout the
state. ASO is one of 135
organizations to receive
a Bridge Grant for oper
ating support.
“As we emerge from
this past year’s quaran
tine, the arts sector is
vital to restarting the
economy by attracting
tourists, assisting with
classroom learning,
and igniting events to
bring communities back
together,” said GCA
Executive Director Tina
Lilly. “The 266 grants
we have awarded will
help cities and organiza
tions leverage additional
funds and bring people
back to work while
providing fun and edu
cational opportunities
for Georgians across the
state.”
ASO will use its
$10,000 Bridge Grant
to help fund its 2021 -
2022 season. “After a
year during which we
could not host in-per-
son performances, we
are looking forward
to an exciting season
that will include four
major concerts, as well
as additional small
er performances and
events,” said ASO Board
President Judge Louis
Sands. “We have put
together a truly exciting
calendar of concerts that
will appeal to a large
cross-section of people,
and we are extremely

grateful for the support

Judge Sands added.
ASO is planning an
event on Saturday, Aug.
21 at Thronateeska Her
itage Center to unveil
its upcoming concert
season and celebrate its
return to live perfor
mances. “The Albany
Symphony Orchestra has
been a vital part of our
community for nearly
60 years. We only exist
because of the generos
ity of donors, sponsors
and organizations like
the Georgia Council for
the Arts, and we have
appreciated their support
more than ever through
these recent challenging
times,” said ASO Music
Director and Conduc
tor Claire Fox Hillard.
“Though we were able
to host a virtual Pepper
mint Pops performance
last year, we know our
patrons have missed the
opportunity to experi
ence concerts in per
son, and our musicians
certainly have missed
performing. We’re ready
for a grand return to the
stage.”
Tickets for the next
month’s season kickoff
celebration and to the
upcoming concerts will
be available soon on the
ASO website at www.
