Local Robbery - Part Of Larger Plot?
The robbery that
occurred at Luckie’s, a
local Leesburg ‘s conve
nience store, on Satur
day, August 5th in the
middle of the afternoon
could be a part of a plot
involving other robber
ies throughout the state
and other parts of the
country.
Police Chief Chris
Prokesh updated the
Leesburg City Council
on the robbery during
their meeting October
3rd. The chief provided a
time sequence of events
surrounding the robbery
carried out by one indi
vidual wearing a mask
and Gilligan’s style hat.
According to Chief
Prokesh, Investigator
Henry Brown did a
tremendous job in de
veloping leads following
the robbery. 77 min
utes after the Leesburg
robbery, in which only a
few hundred dollars was
taken, the same individ
ual was identified on a
video robbing a store
in Vienna, Georgia just
blocks off of Interstate
75.
Camera video from
businesses on Robert B.
Lee showed the robber
walking to a vehicle
parked in the vicinity
of the post office. FBI
agents are working the
case and it appears that
the robber and three
other individual flew
into Atlanta from New
York on the day of the
robbery and flew back
to New York the same
day. Reports indicts that
other robberies occurred
at other convenience
stores in similar circum
stances.
While the police chief
was explaining the
sequence of events to
the city council, Bert
Gregory, City Attorney,
interjected that when
an individual with an
immigration visa is a
victim of a crime, the
person can be granted
legal status to remain in
the country.
