A Cotton Factory.
It needs no argument to show that
Thotmtsville must, it - she would con
tinue to^row and prosper, diversify
her industries. It will not do to keep
all our eggs in one basket.
Mr. 0. II. Williams, and other gen
tlemen, have inaugurated a movement
to build a cottou factory. This is a
move in the right direction. It should
receive the substantial encouragement
of every business man and pnqierty
holder in the town. The following
circular, which explains itself, lias been
issued:
It is proposed to organize a compa
ny on the following plan for the pur
pose of building and operating a Cot
ton Factory at Thomasville, Ga.
We will issue One Thousand (1,000)
or more shares ol capital stock of
par value ol One Hundred Dollars
(8100) each, payable in monthly in
stalments of One Dollar (81) per
si 1 a re.
An initiation tec of 50e per share,
and an nuniml assessment ol 25c per
share, will he charged. This is for
the purpose of defraying, in part, the
expeuscs of thy Co.
Interest on advance payments will
he allowed at the rate of 8 per cent,
per annum for one half the time.
When a sum sufficient to purchase
a site for factory and houses for oper
atives has been paid in and the pur
chase made, the Company will take
stockholder’s notes for unpaid balan
ces on account ol stock, which notes
shall be given for 12 monthly instnl-
mcntsweach, payable yearly until the
stock has been all paid in. So much
of these notes as may he deemed ne
cessary will he hypothecated to raise
funds with which to erect buildings
and buy machinery.
Stockholders,after giviug their notes,
will continue to make their usual
monthly payments to the Company,
which payments will he credited on
their notes.
Frovisiun will he made whereby
Stockholders can sell or transfer iheir
stock at any time after giving notes
The aftairs of the Company will he
managed by- a board of directors elect
cd by the stockholders. Notice of
meeting fur organization will In* given
through the papers.
This is a brief outline of our plan.
If you desire to subscribe to the capi
tal stock please sign attached slip and
send to me. Respectfully,
C. II. Williams.
Hero follows the form to he signed
by those taking stock :
hereby subscribe for
shares of the capital stock of a Cotton
Factory, to be erected and operated in
Thomasville, Ga., said stock to be of
a par value of One Hundred Dollars
(8100) per share and to be paid for
in monthly instalments of One Dollar
(81) per month on each share, or soon
er, at icy discretion.
Dated th “
day of f89...
Now let nwjbothj come forward and
subscribe. This is a hustling age.

Rev. E. H. Stokes, 1). 1)., of New

past winter, falls iuto poetry in.speak

following from a communication writ

thirty acres of ground, covered with a

free from underbrush, through which
