THE ALLIANCE MEETING.
Solid Men of the County in Con
sultation.
The Alliance mass meeting held at
the court house yesterday was a suc
cess.
Between 200 and 300 members of
the order were in attendance, and this
would-Imve been much larger, if the
farmers had not been so busy at
home.
Those in attendance, however, were
truly representative men and reflected
the solid strength of the Alliances of
the county.
Tho main question before the meet-
ing was that of the Guano Factory
and Oil Mill.
No decision was reached though
the matter was discussed in all its
bearing; it is likely that the Oil Mill
feature will lie dropped, but 'he de
termination to build the Guano factory
remains unspoken. The question will
be definitely settled at the next county
Alliance meeting, which will assemble
in this city Thursday July 3rd.
The Times-Enterprise notes with
pleasure the business like way'm which
the county Alliances have set to work
to make their enterprise a success.
It is essentially a business move, and
its success will depend largely on the
manner in which the preliminary steps
are taken. In concentration there is
strength, and if the Alliances of the
county concentrate their strength there
will be but one end, and that end will
be abundant stiCcess.

The Northern Society.
The Time3-Enterprise has had a
very pleasant call from Mr. A. B.
Carrier, of Atlanta, Secretary of the
above society.
Mr. Carrier is a monaber of theState
Sunday School Association, and is in
attendance on the convention, now in
session here. "* •
The Northern Society is composed
of gentlemen that have settled iif 'the
south, and the main object had in
view, i3 the dissemination of correct
information, as to the resources of the
country, and the advantages and in
ducements tho south offers to immi
grants.
This information will bo -scattered
throughout tho north anti cannot fail
to bo of great advantage. These gen
tlemen have had ample opportunity
to know whereof they speak, and their
opiflions and .views will carry great
weight.
It is unuecessasy to say that the ob
jects far which tho society is working
are such as commend themselves as
to] our people, and they fully real
ize the compliment that has been
paid them and their section by its or
ganization.
Valuable Property.
As will be scon by reference to ad
vertisement elsewhere, this morning,
the Hardaway residence on Dawson
street, one of tho most desirable resi
dences on that street, will be oflored

the 13th inst. This is a fine opportu
nity for investors, or any one wanting
a good homo in Thomasville.

most popular traveling men on the
road, and well known in this city, has
been elected president of tho Southern
Travelers Association. This is a mer
ited compliment to Mr. Townsend,
and he will fill the position with credit
to himself and the very best good of
the Association.

place, next to McDougald’s shop, on
Madison street, to C. H. Williams.

Rev. Wm. Shaw, who made a beau
tiful talk in the convention Wednes
day evening, on “The King’s Book,”
well known for his labors in tho
Sunday School fields, from Maine to
Florida. He was the guest of Mrs. J.
B. Scott, Jackson street, and is a very
pleasant gentleman.

The motive in buying and selling
is to make money. We are engaged
in this not so much to accumulate as
to live. So are you in your occupa
tion. It is your interest then to buy
where you can save. “A dollar sav
ed is a dollar made.” If we can save
you money in the millinery line it is
the strongest reason why you should
buy from us. On this basis wo solicit
your trade. And about prices; Qual
ity must be considered in relation to
price, but if the article you wish
costs ten cents or ten dollars it is the
best that tho money will buy any
where, and we are sale in saying more
in quantity.
And you shall be courteously and
pleasantly treated. We want our
customers to return to us conscious
that they can do better and more sat
isfactory trading at L. B. M. H. than
elsewhere.
A new lot of goods just received
Saturday. We will have more this
week. We keep our stock up and
prices down, May we have the pleas
ure of serving you before the season
is over?

For aneemio people fa
a boon.
A fact worth knowing is that blood dis
eases which all other medicines fail to cure
yield slowly but surely to the blood cleans
ing properties of P. P. P. (Prickly Ash,
Poke Root and Potassium.)
For a number of years I hare been subject
to violent attacks ot inflammatory rheur-
tism which generally lasted about 1
months. On tho first of this month’I
attacked la the knee and suffered severely
for two days, wh'on I procured a bottlo of
Chamberlain’s Pain Balm and It relieved me
almost instantly. I therefore most cheer
fully recommend it to those who arc simi
larly afflicted everywhere—B. D. Whitley,
Martindale, N. C., Feb. 1888. Mr. Whitley
is a very prominent man in this place and
bis disease was very widely known as he

cent bottles, for sale by McRae Brothera
Many letters are received by the P. P. P.
Co. from patients, saying they had used such
and such a blood purifier and sarsaparillns,
mentioning their names and stating they did
no good, and they did not get well until P.
P. I’. (Prickly Ash, Poke Root and Potas
sium) was tried. These letters we started to
publish, when the various manufacturers
wrote us fearful-letters, and wo discontinued
same, but P. P. P. (Prickly Ash, Poke Root
and Potassium) is triumphant on every oc
casion, and has made host ot friends in cures
of Syphilis, Rheumatism, Scrofula, Blood
Poison, Dyspepsia, Malaria and Female Com
plaints.
l’lcaso read carefully every word in the
following article. A. F. Prcvatt, of Thomas
ville, is the only agent ih this county for
Paul Jones Old Monongaliela Rye Whisky,
and it cannot be obtained from any other
source; now if you arc overworked, or bro
ken down in health, from any other cause,
a puro, honest, wholesome stimulant will do
you more good than anything else you could
possibly obtvin, and a pure old Rye whisky
is the most wholesome stimulant produced.
Paul Jones Old Monongnliela Rye is the
highest grade of whisky distilled in the
United States; it is endorsed and highly
recommended by connoisseurs, chemists and
physicians throughout the Union; it is an
old, rich, mellow, palatable Rye Whisky, and
made its national reputation solely on ac
count of its high quality.

The reason is simple, ns it is a powerful
