cal Examiner of the A. 0. U. \V., is
in Atlanta, attending the meeting of
the Grand Lodge ot the Southern Dis
trict of the order.
The friends of Mrs. Sophrouia
Mitchell will be delighted to hear that
she is improving. This venerable lady
has passed her four score years, and
has hosts of friends and relatives in
the county.
Do not forget the services at the

made. Both floors of the new build
ing will be occupied by the Messrs.

Sir. Mac Reese had two magnifi
cent Paul Neyron roses on exhibition
at his store yesterday morning. One
of them measured 15 inches in cir
cumference. Who can beat this?
Mac says that if that flower show is
gotten up, he will push growers very

Thomasville Real Estate and
Improvement Company.
83 The second annual meeting of the
stockholders of the above company
on will be held to-night, ns appears by
notice from Secretary Parker, in an
other column. A new board of offi
cers will be elected, and the report of
the business of the past year will be
submitted. The success and prosper
ity of the company 1 as been very
gratifying, as will appear by the pub
lished report which will bo forthcom
ing within the next few days.
Besides profitable to the stockhold
ers, the company has been of great
service to home seekers, by aftbrding
them an opportunity for securing their
own fireside. It is needless to say that
the affairs of the R. E. and f. Co.,
have been well managed.
Let It Come.
The rains of the first of the week
wore hadlv needed and was worth
thousands of dollars to the crops, &c.,
but. besides doing good it did some
harm. It washed up the city streets,
laid bare water and gas pipes in pla
ces and damaged the street railway a
great deal. Manager Bennett is not
the one to get discouraged, however,
he went right to work and repaired
the washes and will soon have finish
ed all the work pertaining to his road,
and then be ready to enter into an ar
rangement to build the road to Thorn-
asvillc. If lie can get the help of
Leon's citizen’s the T. A T. road will
bn built. He pushed the waterworks
and Tallahassee railway through in a
hurry, and will be the man to connect
us with our sister city of Georgia.—
Tallahassean.
Manager Bennett appears to be a
bustler. Thomasville and Tallahas
see, already hound together by strong
tics ot friendship, should be linked to
gether by bars of steel. It would be
a boon, as well as a boom, for both
towns. Wo have an ubiding faith that
this road will lie built.
Out of the World.
Sheriff George W. Swindle, of Ca
milla, was surprised Sunday morning
on going into the the cell occupied by
Arthur Mills, colored, to find his pris
oner cold in death. A bottle cfpoison
lying near by explained how Mills had
escaped from this world. A short
while ago Mills life ran oil with
another man to Athens. The angry
husband followed the fleeing pair, and
demanded that his wife return home
Dr. \V. I 1 ’. Robinson, of Iamonia,

hands with his friends and receiving
congratulations in advance over an im
portant event that will transpire in the
near future.

State University. He was one of the
chosen speakers of the Demosthcnian
Literary Society, last, week, to discuss
the question whether foreign immigra

prohibited? It is always a pleasure
to note the progress and success of
Thomas county boys.

•Messrs. Moore A Williams arc busy
at work getting ready to make brick

with him. This she refused to do,
whereupon Mills used his knife with
probably fatal results. He then made
his escape back to Camilla where he
was arrested on a telegram from
aliens. He was locked up Saturday
night, and that was the last seen of him
alive. Fie no doubt took the poison
with suicidal intention, as the medicine
was a liniment lo rub with, and not in
tended to be taken internally.
Alliance Picnic.
Boston Alliance will give a picnic
to its members anil friends, Wednes
day, 28th inst. To those who are fa
miliar with the manner in which Bos
ton’s farmers do such things, it is un
necessary to say more.
Boston people, too, linvc a way of
treating their visitors on such occa
sions that makes them feel thoroughly
at home.
The Steam Laundry.
Thomasville is to have a Steam
Laundry. This fact is settled beyond
doubt. The manajement will push it
from the start, and they will make a
success of the venture, and it will lie a
great convenience to our people. The
work will be first-class, and the prices
moderate.

Messrs. Moore A Williams will
shortly build two new sidetracks. One
track will bo extended from the Mon-
