Sixteen Trans-continental Passenger
Trains Daily.
Under the new train schedule which the
Northern Pacific Railroad inaugurates .luno
13th, ik:io, there will sixteen trains-contincntal
passenger trains nutving daily on this grea t
line, eight east bound and eight west hound,
exclusive of 108 local, main and braclt line pas
senger trains running daily west of St. Paul,
Ashland and Duluth in Wisconsin, Minnesota,
North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and
Washington on its 3800 miles of track.
Cbas. S, Free, General passenger Agent of the
line at St. Paul, announces that under the new
arrangement the first throngh train, the Pacific
kxpress, leaves st. Paul at 8:15 a, m daily, with
a through Pullman Palace sleeping car, leaving
Chicago daily at 5:30 p. m. via the Chicago,
Milwaukee & st. Paul nailway, running via Hel
ena and Tacoma direet to Portland, and making
close connection at st. Paul with all trains leav
ing st. nouis in the forenoon and Chicago in the
afternoon of the previous day, arriving at Taco
ma 10:50 a. m. of the third day and Portland the
same afternoon.
Th i second through train, No. 1, the Pacific
Mail, leaving St. Paul at 1:15 p. in., daily, mak
ing close connections with the Fast Mail,” ami
allniglit trains out of Chicago, will carry a
through Pullman Palace Sleeping Car ami one
or more Pullman Tourist Slocping Cars leaving
Chicago at 10:45 p. in. daily via the Wisconsin
Central line, running through to Portland via
Helena and Tacoma. Both trains out of St.
Paul will carry Pullman Tourist Sleeping Cars
and Dining Cars, but free colonist Sleeper*
will l»e run only on train No. 1, leaving St. Paul
at 4:15 p. in.
The Northern Pacific now operates the largest
equipment of dining ears of any railroad in the
world, twenty-four, and also the longest Pull,
man sleeping car line in existence, namely .'Chi
cago to Portland via Tacoma, and is the only
line running theso sleepers to the principal
trade centres and pleasure resorts in Northern
Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana ami Wash
ington.

Mr. Burks said, ‘We Imre ordered
a supply of cotton, pine straw and
jute bagging. The cotton is for those
who prefer it, anti the other two kinds

bagging supply is inadequate, wc will
have that on hand. Besides we have
a number of patrons who use jute
bagging, and wo have to keep it on
hand to supply them.”
