most welcome sound that any of the
party hears is the call to a meal, no
matter which one, but Mrs. Gamble
supplies her table so bountifully and
with such a variety of good things,
that even our appetites never seem
to have made very heavy inroads
upon the supplies.
I hope it has tuned cooler at home,
as the delightful weather we have
had ever since we reached here, will
make it hard on us who will have to
?is p In rfeturn 80 shortly now.
The ladies of our party all expect
be accomplished swimmers by the
time they return, ns they have already
learned to float. Pack your grip and
come down if only for a few days, it
will do you a world ot good.
Tucker still lives at the same place
and still raises watermelons, but they
are easier to get at than when we
first visited this island.

St. Teresa, James Island Fla. )
July 11th, 1890. j
I have heard somewhere a story to
this effect; a gentleman wascompclletl
to “refugee" from the sea coast of
Carolina during the war. lie wanted
to get where there was no probability
of his being again disturbed, aud he
located in an unbroken pine forest iu
Florida, but he constantly louged to
go back, and the great aud leading
reason he assigned was, that the little
clearing he lived on, surrounded as it
was by tall pines, made him feel as if
he were suffocating, and he wanted
to go back where he could have plen
ty of room to breathe.
What difference it does make—the
unbounded stretch of sea and sky
that make you feel as if the air you
breathe was sent fresh aud direct
from the bund of nature to you, un-
eon taminuted with any -‘genus” ‘‘bac
teria" or hurtful or polluting ingre
dients or attachments.
It is hard to realize how much
cooler it is on the water than ou
land. Only n few minutes ago we
returned from a trip of four hours iu
a sail boat, under an almost cloudless
sky, without umbrella, awning, or
other means of shielding us from the
sun’s rays, and these four hours were
from 9:90 a m. to 1:30 p. in., yet no
one seems to feel any heat, nl least
not one complaint was heard on (hat
score, though hands aud faces show
plainly the effects of the sunshine.
The amusements here arc fishing,
crabbing, sailing, rowing and visiting,
the last is very pleasant, but most
perfectly informal. No one dresses
for looks, but everybody for comfort,
aud it adds a great deal to the pleas
sure of the visitors to be thus at lib
erty to go as they please.
John Montgomery is the boss fisher
man so far. He caught a fish yester
day, that he could scarcely make out
to carry from the landing to the
boarding house. It was a sea bass,
and was caught with an ordinary
Japan rod and a cotton line, without
even a reel. There were were no scales
to be had that would weigh him
whole, the largest being n pair of steel
yards that would only weigh twenty-
four pounds. He lmd to be cut in
half and each piece weighed separ
ately.
Mrs. Montgomery distinguished
herself to day by the number of fish
she caught. The fish seemed to kuow
her hook, aud only took a chance afforill,lc uni
at {Jte other hooks when hcr’s was out
of the water. I canuot say that she
was altogether delighted with the
character of her catch, but it was
great sport. This place has a won-,
derful effect on the appetite. Tho

Blood Disease.
Blood diseases nrc terrible on ac
count of their loathsome nature, and
the fact that they wreck the constitu
tion so completely unless the proper
antidote is applied. B. B. B. (Botan
ic Blood Balm) is composed of the
true antidote for blood poison. Its
use never fails to give satisfaction
Mrs. Laura Hart, Beaufort, S. C.,
writes: “A loathsome form of blood
poison was killing me. My appetite
was lost, my bones ached, ana parts
of my flesh seemed as if it would come
off my bones. A friend brought me
a bottle of B. B. B. The sores began
healing at once, and when I had
taken two bottles I was surprised
at my rapid recovery.”
W. A. Bryant. Moody, Texas,
writes: ‘‘I had an agonizing cose of
Salt Itheum tor four years, which
medicine I look only seemed to ag
gravate until T found B. B. B. It
cured my hand, which resembles a
burnt surface. It also cured my two
children of itch, which had resisted
previous treatment.”
