passenger trains moving daily on- this great
line, eight east hound and eight west hound,
exclusive of 1(W local, main and bracli line pas
senger trains running daily west of St. i'aul,
Ashland and Duluth in Wisconsin, Minnesota,
North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and
Washington on its 3800 miles of track.

arrangement the llrst through train, the caciric
Express, leaves st. i*aul at 8:15 a, m daily, w ith
a through l’utlman Palace sleeping car, leaving
Chicago daily at 5:30 p. in. via the « hicugo,
Milwaukee & st. i*aul nailway, running via Jiel-
ona and Tacoma direct to Portland, and making
close connection at st. Paul w ith all trains leav
ing st. bonis in the forenoon and Chicago in tlie
afternoon of the previous clay, arriving at Taco
ma 10:50 a. in. of the third day ami Portland the
same afternoon.
ThI second through train, No. 1, the Paclllc
Mail, leaving St. Paul at 4:15 p. in., daily, mak
ing close connections with the Fast Mail,” and
all night trains out of Chicago, will carry a
through Pullman Palace Sloeping Car and one
or more Pullman Tourist Sleeping Cars leaving
Chicago at 10:45 p. in. daily via the Wisconsin
Central line, running through to Portland via
Helena and Tacoma. Both trains out of St.
Paul will carry Pullman Tourist Sleeping Cars
and Dining cars, but free colonist Sleepers
will he run only on train No. 1. leaving St. Paul
at 4:15 p.m.
Tlie Northern Pacific now operates the largest
equipment of dining ears of any railroad in tne
world, twenty-four, and also the longest Pull-
man sleeping car line in existence, namely Chi
cago to Portland via Tacoma, and is the only
line runr ng theso sleepers to the principal
trade centres and pleasure resorts in Northern
Minnesota, North Dukota, Montana and Wasli-
n ‘ffcerocontly completed Butte Air Line of the
Northern Pacific makes this the shortest route
betwen Chicago apd Butte by 120 miles and en
