From Far Off Texas.
The writer is in receipt of a marked
paper, tho Waller County Courier,
published at Hempstead, Texas, with
tho following editorial, which appeared
eometime since in our jcolumns:
“God bless the women of the south.
They have been true to the boys in
giey; true to husbands, brothers, fath
ers and sweethearts; true to the mem
ory of a cause, which though lost, is
still to memory dear. No marble
shaft rears its head anywhere in South
ern sunlight, to the memory of Dixie’s
dead, but thnt it has been partially, at
least, shaped and reared by woman’s
baud. No grave is so humble, where
sleeps n confederate soldier, that some
southern woman, docs not strew it
with flowers, kneel beside the inani
mate dust, and water the neglected
spot with her tears. In her heart of
hearts, she carries the memory of those
who died for home and loved ones.
A movement has been started—and
it should bo carried out—to erect,
somewhere iu the south, a monument
to southern women.”
The following marginal reference
appears. “Thanks to the writer from
a Southern woman.” No Southern
soldier can ever lorget the devotion of
the Southern women, during, and
since the war. Uncomplainingly,
heroically and cheerfully they submit
ted to a thousand privations. We
repeat, that somewhere in this fair
sunny lands of ours, an endurin
marble shaft of pure white, typical of
the virtue of our women, should he
reared to their memory.
Will it Be Built to Thomasville?
It looks ns if it would Sonic of
our closest observers, those who arc on
tho “inside” arc confident that
through line will be built at an early
day from Augusta to Thomasville
and thnt it will be extended on to
deep water, probably to Carabelle
In this connection wc subjoin the fol
lowing special from Augusta to the
Constitution:
The directors are negotiating for the
Carolina, Knoxville aud Western
road, and it is quite probable, if not
almost settled, that this projected lino
will be n part of the Augusta and
West Florida system. The main line
is also moving on finely, nnd arrange
ments for pushing the work arc being
made by the construction company
About fifteen miles are graded and
eighty-five miles will be in operation
befoie the year is out. The citizens
of Louisville have made practical and
attractive offers for the road to run
that way, and it is pretty certain that
this route will be selected and thnt
trains will be running into Louisville
before Christmas. It is also probable
thnt the Augusta nnd West Florida
will scoop the Louisville and Wadley
railroad.
He Was Happy.
“ What’s dem watcrmilyuns wuf,

“Two fora nickel," said Joe.
“I’ll take a nickel’s wuff,” said the
darkey.
And he marched ofl with his small
melons. The last seen of him he was
peeping over the limited rim of the

his ivory grinders in the juicy meat,
and swallowed juice, pulp nnd nil.
He was not 'bothering his mind

A Safe Remedy.
When a person is sick they wish more
than aught else n restoration of health,
They arc willing to take even nauseous med
icine in order to get well. With many:
however, a first consideration is whether
the medicine is perfectly safe. Will it or
will it not leave any evil after-effects 7
Now, there is one remedy known to he cer
tainly safe. It is a botanical dicovery, and
it is called Botanic Blood Balm, or B, B. B.
It will not harm the most delicate constitu
tion, nor will a discontinuance cause a Grav
ing for its further use. It is a sure antidote
for poison in the blood. The blood becomes
poisoned in various ways. Constipation,
urinary dilficulties ami other causes of effete
matter remaining in the system will cnii3c
blood impurity, orblocd poison, as many
call it. Symptons of blood poison should
not be neglected, B. B. B. should be taken
nt once. It will cure promptly, nnd is not
bad to take, nor will it leave any evil after
effects,
Jf D. Watkins, Blakely, Ga., writes
“Old sores covered my entire person and
itched intensely night ami day. For sever
al months I could not work at all. I com
menced the use of Botanic Blood Balm and
began to grow better the first week, and am
now sound nnd well, free from sores nnd
itching and nt work again.”
