According to our esteemed contem
poraries, there arc a great many “ban

Thomas is one ot them.
The city”nas been full oi drummers
for the past week or two. This is their
busy season, as they are selling the
tner.chai.ts their tall and w nter stock.
The Messrs. Dixon Bros., of Iarao-

North Georgia.
An invitation was issued to Bub

to rouse some people. It may come.
AH right,
j The street leading out to Col. Mc
Lendon’s has been named Gordon
Avenue. It is to be widened at an
early day, wben it will be one of the
most beautiful drives qroijm} the city,

pordon avenue will be lined with
lijjndsorae villas.
•Mr. Charlie Whitehead, lorroerly

relatives, leaves this morning for Daw-

His friends wish him success.

The farmers are about through pull
ing fodder, and are ready for picking
cotton, which is opening rapidly.
Quite a number of bales have been in
town, and the number increases.
Wednesday the 12th inst., was a
big day here for our “goat brothers,”
(the Mason). About 10 o’clock, A.
M. wagons and buggies began rolling
in with our country brothers and sis
ters. At 12 o’clock sharp, we heard
the familiar old ,: goat horn,” toot,
toot, and our hearts pranced like a
goat on a stable roof, ’cause we knew
it was calling us to dinner. We all
marched up in Boston Hall (which is
used by the Masons.) where a long
table was loaded with one of those
fine dinners the good ladies of our
community know how to prepare,
After wo had all cat to our hearty dc-
siro, degrees were conferred on some
of the ladies. We failed to see that,
but judging from the racket that af
ternoon, they certainly rode the goat,
or hod some tough falls. The belles
and beaux seemed to nnjoy themselves
in talking their chit chat and drink
ing the cool, refreshing soda dispens
ed by Miss Minnie Boston. We were
very sorry indeed to see that during
the day Miss Minnie lmd cut her hand
very badly, from shoving ice.
A certain youug man in town sent
a letter down the road a few nftcr
noons ago, and instead of addressing
it to the place intended, put it Och-
lockonec. Next day lie had the dry
grins when bis letter was handed to
him, and the mistake discovered.
Wonder what’s the matter with him ?
We won’t use any personalities, but
ask Mi. Rice Sills about it.
Ouc of our young ladies lias recent
ly got so “tony” she wears glasses all
the time.
What’s the waiter with our prayer
meeting and Sunday schools ? Can
they not bo revived. It seems impos
sible to get the people to take an in
terest in them.
Mr. John Jenkins and sister, Miss
Lester, visited relatives in Mitchell
county last week.
Mr. Lawnie Barwick, of Cordclc, is
visiting his pnrents.
Macon will not let Atlanta outdo
her. Mr. Van offers 82,000 for the
ugliest woman to ride a float at the
state fair. Well, she doesn’t live
here,
Messrs. L. C. C. I-eng mid T. E.
