What a Town Wants.
The News nnd Advertiser, Albany,
has bcej interviewing leading citizens
as to what will most surely nnd
speedily build up that, already, grow
ing town. We commend the answers
to the citizens of Thomasville. Hero
are some of them:
Mark Smith—Cotton factories.
I Kicve—Wc need factories.
Copt Y. G. Bust—We need a cotton fac
tory.
Walter Muse—Manufacturing enterprises,
J. W. Joiner—A cotton factory is Albany’s
crying teed.
J. It. Forrester—Wcnccd manufacturing
enterpises.
S. W. Gunnison—Cotton factories worse
than anyting else.
L. J. Urine—A cotton factory with white
operatives, from the families of whom wc
could get servants,
J. D. Pope—Concret of action between the
peoplo. With this, all other things will be
added unto them.
T. M. Carter—Co-operative spirit among
its citizens. If we would all pull together
we would get what wo want.
flev. Mr. Johnson—Plenty of religion. I
don't know of anything that Albany needs
more than religious consecration.
J.S. Davis—Oo-opcration among our lead
ing citizens. If we could get unity of pur
pose and action wc would go rapidly along
the road of progress to tbo station cf pros
perity.
Capt. John A. Davis—I unhesitatingly

was very slight this season. It was

the spring.
“The feeling among pear men is
this county is better than for "two

will beiet out thte coming winter.
It is also Worthy of' note in this con

fault of the fruit, but to the fact that
nearly tho entire crop was rushed into
the single city of New York, which
had heretofore always paid the best
prices. This caused a continuous
glut and depressed tho market. Ship
pers hereafter will be more careful to
distribute the crop. T()W will peces

being made looking to that end.”
