Webster, He-wii-ee, the first syllable
pronounced like he in her, and the
accent is on the second syllable.
Mr. Cleveland insisted that he
should go to Washington just like
any other passenger, on a regular
train, but the railway men say he must
go in a special tra : n.
The Augusta Chronicle says: “The
prospective secretary of agriculture
has raised 1,575 bushels of corn on
a twenty acre lot. He knows the dtf
ference between a hand grenade and

Says the Savannah Press: “New
Yorkers who can afford to do so are
now getting ready to go south in time
to avoid the rigors of the rapidly ap
proaching month of March and its
concomitants of mud, mist, and
misery.
Col, J. H. Estill is most favorably
mentioned as Consul-General to Cuba,
Under the new administration. Col.
Estill Is one of the sold, clear-headed
democrats of Georgia, and his friends,
all over the state, would be pleased to
seo him get the place.
There are no trills about Mr, Cleve
land’s cabinet. It is a business body
all the way through. When Mr.
Cleveland says : “Come to books,”
every man will know that he means
business. There will be no truants.
That Royal Blue Bine, over the
Central’s main stem, from Savannah
to Atlanta, is a hummer. It is the
famous Nancy Hanks train and covers
the distance at the rate of a mile a
minute, or very near that time.
There’s life in the old Central yet.
Another democratic senator has
come to the Iront. He hails from
Wyoming, and his name is A. C.
Beckwith. Mr. Beckwith was ap
pointed by the governor. He will
serve at least two years. The senate
is getting very democratic.
Kicker Kilgore, of Texas, wants the
Mexican mission. His colleagues,
those who have been knocked out so
often by his objections, would no
doubt be glad to see him appointed to
the position. Mr. Kilgore is a Geor
gian by birth and education.
Tom Watson consumed forty days
in taking testimony against Mr. Black.
Mr. Black, who has an equal time to
take testimony, has declined to take
any. Watson’s evidence is the veriest
rot. It was not worth controverting.
Bye, bye, Tommie.
Ugly stories about the condition of
