Dear Ed: —
Just a word. Have just run down
here to hear a joint debate by our
own W. D. Upshaw and a Mr. Win-
dle of Chicago, on the Liquor Ques
tion. I guess this man from Chicago
|stands out pre-eminently as one of
the best speakers In this country,
but for the benefit of our Georgia
friends, let me say that the "Georgia
Cyclone" Just naturally ate him
alive, and the crowd was with us.
Our Georgia boy has covered himself
With glory, and today 1 am a bigger
fool about him than ever before
Marion county will most assuredly
roll up a good majority for the dry
side.
Well, I might say “Hello!" to all
my friends; a smile for those who
love us: a tear for those who hate,
etc.
I must now hit the rock road with
John Henry, and get back to my
headquarters- at the wonderfully
beajitiful little town of Citra.
Good night.

MDSE 8F EXCITEMENT
Lucius Williams, the negro who
drives the street sweeper, got in bad
Saturday night and was locked up.
He was sweeping the streets and, as
usual, there were a number of
cars on Broad Street, and he bump
ed into one of them. He i? baij to
have been imp u 1ent wher a gentle
man who owned one nearby warned
him not to buiuP into it. Negro
sweeper, et. al.. left the scene im
mediately and hived for the back
yards. It is stated that tne men who
heard the remark he made were very
angry.
Later, the police saw him in the
back yard and made for him, but he
ran. Several shots in the air, how
ever, stopped him, and he was lock
ed up to prevent trouble. He will
be given a hearing this afternoon in
police matinee.

made an exhaustive study of the
situation and litigation and the in
terests of Georgians will be pre
sented with greater strength than
ever before In this case which has
been unsettled for several years.
The litigation grew out of com
plaints of Georgia farmers that the
fumes from the copper company's
plant drifted across the Tennessee
line and did terrlble%damages to tbe
crops and to the forests.
Last April the attorney general
obtained a decree from the United
States supreme court enjolnlug tbe
copper company from discharging
more than a stipulated amounted of
its fumes across Into Georgia but tbe
farmers say they have experienced
no relief.
