Toe iustrameat of donation was then
read by Dr. White. Afrer the appointed
prayer* the sentence of const cration watt
read by the R ctor and then laid on
the communion table. This instrument
is signed by the Bishop of the Diocese,
sea^d with his Episcopal seal, and de
clares that ihe buildiug is from thence
forth separated from all unhallowed,
ordinary and common uses, and dedica
ted to the services of God, for resd
ing His holy word, for celebrating
t te holy sacraments, for offering the
sacrifices of prayer and thanksgiving,
for blessing His people in His name, and
for the performance of all other holy
offices.
When the old cbnrch on Clayton and
Lumpkin streets was completed’ there
was not, as far as is now known, any
consecration servicj. The sentence of
oonsccratlon rxecnted by Right Rev
Stephen Elliott is now in the archives
of the parish, but beyond the delivery

fore this is perhaps the first conse
cration of a chnrch in this city.
The ceremonial is historically of in
terest, dating from the time of James I
of England. Some of the features are
derived from the aucient English law of
livery cf seisin, which was introduced
into England at the time of the Norman
conquest. A. D 1066 TEe readers of
Blackstoue are familiar with the details.

Dr. J. W. Walden, pastor cf the Pres
byterian church, has resigned his posi
tion and the congregation will pass upon
the resignation next Sunday morning.
The announcement of the resignation
of Dr. Walden came as a great surprise
to many of his congregation and the
matter was the talk among many of the
people of the city yesterday.
During the services at the Presbyte
rian church Sunday morning Dr. Wal
den stated to the congregation that he
had received a letter from a member of
his church in which he was asked to
resign, it being stated in the letter that
in the judgment of the writer suoh a
step would be for the benefit of the
church, as a considerable amount of dis
sension existed on account of the reoent
affair in which the pastor and Mr. Mc
Gregor figured.
In view of the letter he had received
and the opinion expressed therein Dr.
Walden stated that he thought he
should tender his resignation as pastor
of the church.
At the conclnsiou of Dr. Walden’s
remarks Prof. W D Hooper arose and
stated that he was the author of the
letter and that in his judgment it would
he best for the church that Dr. Walden
tender his resignation Prof. Hooper
urged all the members of the Presbyte
rian churcn to attend the services at the
church next Sunday and vote tbeir con
victions on the matter. He urged them
not to be cowards in the matter and vote
one way and then go our among them
selves and people of otherdenominations
and talk on the other side.
The session of the Presbyterian mem
bers next Sunday will befall of interest.
It may be that the members will again

AN HONEST SKEPTIC
And Where he Landed.
An honest ekeptio will learn things
that a prejudiced and ignorant person
misses. There have been many skeptics
of tbe great rebuilding value of the pure
food Grape-Nuts simply because they
did not understand the scientific princi
ple upon which it is based.
A Cincinnati man prepired to die and
then got well and strong in spite of his
oonvictions. He says : "I nave always
regarded your food as only another
catch penny to fool the public but I am
now forced through justice to admit
that it is all yon claim.
“I suffered for years from indigestion
and had ‘set my honse in order’ to die.
Then I took np the study of the alimen
tary table, bought a set of chemical
devices to analyze the different foods
and set to work to intelligently study
the food question.
"I seleoted and ate those vegetables
and meats in which I found tbe most
nutriment and which were supposed to
be tbe most easily digestid, but I con
tinued to waste away and my stomach
grew to be a veritable hell; soar scald
ing eructations came up in my mouth
taking my breath away for such a long
while that I thought mauy times my
end had come. I would fall in a faint
and remain uuconecions for somo time
and when revived would find great dark
spots obscuring my vision to such an ex
tent that it seemed tc me almost night
in my room.
"My stomach grew so weak that I
could npt digest even well boiled rloe.
While lying in bed, badly ditcour&ged
and more willing to die than live, a
voice seemed tocome to me, ‘Why don’t
you give np your prejudice and try
Grape-Nuts.’ I thought about it every
little while daring tbe day and late in
the evening sent oat for some and ate a
little, expecting it would hurt me and
cause all the terrible trouble over again,
bat an hour passed and everything was
right so I took another little meal and
waited, I felt better and the old siok
feeling quit So about 9 o'clock I took
a pretty good meal of Grape-Nuts and
went tc bed feeling good. I laid awake
some time fearing my poor weak and
scalded stomach would suffer,but strange
to say I dropped off to sleep and slept
sound and peaceful and enjoyed the
most glorious night’s rest I had for
several years.
"I go heavy on Grape Nuts now and I
have gained 10 pounds in the last five
weeks; have sound, refreshing sleep, no
sour eructations of the stomach, no dark
blind spots and my nerves are as steady
as can be. I am truly myself again and
all dne to having at last found the proper
food." Name furnished by Postnm Co.,
Battle Greek, Mich.
aider this matter, instrcotfhg them to
present those views to the presbytery.
If they should vote otherwise then the
messengers would be given opposite in
structions.
Following the vote of the congrega
tion on the matter next Sunday will be
called a session af the Athens Presby
tery at which the resignation will be
finally passed upoi».
