is imperative that the organisation

Onr jmliticai history for the past
few months has proven that our or

Therefore, in order that the citi

At this meeting an election will he
held lor a President and Executive

earnest desire that men may be
selected for these positions whose
patriotism will impel them to take in

Endorse
[Communicated.]
J r Editor: We arc truly glad
that Gov. Colquitt lies yielded to a
sense of duty and signed the bonds
of the Northeastern railroad. The
Governor’s convictions in opposition
to State aid and the abuses of this
doctrine since the war, has been such
as to make him exceedingly cautious
and slow to give his endorsement.
In this case he conld not have done
less. The faith of the State had been
pledged; a large number of the best
citizens of the State had invested
their means in the enterprise, actu
ated by the plighted faith of (he
>Stnte. In good faith they complied
with the Constitution, and clearly
V expressed wiU of the Legislature.
Under the circumstances, to have
refused the endorsement would have
been a wrong to the people ot Noitlig
east Georgia. After most careful
Northeastern railroad. The bonds
are endorsed, the road is a success.
We tender our congratulations to
the good people of Northeast Geor

Where is Dr. Carlton? We should
like to meet him just now. The Dr.
started with the enterprise if he was
n6t the original projector.- Ho was’
-the working man on all occasions,
from the introduction ot the original
hill until he had produced the last
vestige of evidence and law to satisfy
the Governor. But lie had his ups
and downs. When tliiugs ran
smoothly with his “ pet,” he was as
smiling and kind and soft as a May
morning, but whenever there was a
hitch, he put on the harness of’ the
dray horse and pulled and pulled
and tugged anil tugged.and if the
wagon did not come then Is he a

Well, Dr , we congratulate you, beg
pardon for any insinuations we liar*
made, but if ever we get in trouble,
we shall try and enlist your services.
