the contrary has in itself a tendency to

1BS0LUTELY PURE
Not Offirquently the best of flour gets all the
lwu in reality the dark color and poor
both caused by the use of inferior
powder. Many baking powders now
recommended by grocers, and hence
sold, are made of old bones ground up,
a chemical process mixed with other
nu. Before lending their Influence to
the sale of any baking powder, grocers
well to ascertain the reputation and
of-itx manufacturers. They would
Id. becoming instrumental in perpe-
fraud on their customers, and would
_ . ag run make more money. Of course
no honest man would knowingly lend himself
•to such a fraud upon his customers, and it Is
Terr-poor policy for any grocer to attempt to
palm-off inferior goods when the best are
askef) .for. .He may by so doing make a little
money at the lime, but he surely will at some
time, if the ftaud la discovered, lose one of hia
best . -.Ltrimcrs, and with him a score of others
whb cofigBt otherwise have dealt with him.
AmCicbaut’s wisest policy Is to secure the best
customers, and they are just the ones who
want the best goods. SEA FOAM ia

she wfft woon ascertain that most of the y
preparations now being sold are anything
else but what they profess to be, and that
this is the main reason why so large a propor
tion of the bread consumed by the masses of
the community ts unbcallliftd. Invalids are
especially interested i:i il.ii question of yeesf,
and ought to keep constantly in mind the im
portant fact that their dietary should at all
times be the best, and that under the most
favorable circumstances they can not hope to
Tegaln health and strength unless their food is
tho most healthful and nutritious that can be
obtained. Good food makes good blood, and
tho nerve force is strengthened,or impaired in
proportion as the food we eat is nutritious or
•otherwise.
SEAFOAM is worthy of a fair trial, and
that is all we ask f >r It.
No one having once used it will ever use any
other preparation In the talking ponder line,
but Will at once aud forever banish bom the
house the various crude mixtures and bogus
preparations in the form of yeast that have so
long and so persistently tended to destroy
health by imperfectly performing the require
ments they professed to fulfill.
SEA FOAM retains in all their excel
lence the nutritious properties and natural
taste of the various cereal preparations of food,
white in bread raked by the ordinary means
there is very beqnently great loss of their
tootlisorae end palatable qualities.
Of all baking or yeast powdcis. Sea Foam

BEST IN THE WORLD
Give It a trial, and you will concede that we
have oflered you the means to make poor
flour much Letter than when used under
ordinary conditions, while good flour will be
Immeasurably increased in sweetness, rich
ness, and all those qualities which combine to
render good bread essential !y t he staff of life.
SEA FOAM is now used by the leading
hotels and restaurants in New York city and
throughout the country. One eating-house in
New York has become famous for its SEA
FOAM biscuit, and during the dinner hours
there are always dozens of people walling
their turn to be seated.
Ask your grocer to get it for you, if he has
not already placed it- in his stock, aud if an
obliging man he will do so; or send for

The Advantage of Being a
Woman.
Madison County, Ga , f
May 3d, 1878. \
Dr. H. H. Carlton—Dear Sir : 1
saw in your last issue of the Banner
a piece under the above heading,
and I have been studying of the
advantages of being a woman and
the power she has over brutal mar.*
Who is it that, when man is raving
with madness can speak one word
and quell his wrath and subdue his
temper and bring him again to kind-
ness ? The very echoes will answer,
woman—lovely woman, sweet wo
man. What would man do without
woman ? Oh ! he would do nothing
hut steal, i-iirder and rob. Who is
it that man would die for? Won.an
Who is it that man loves dearer than
any thing rn earth ? Woman. Wo
man is the chief concern of man’s
exist mice. She is his thought by
day and his dream by night.^ She i-
Iiis talk at church and hall. She is
his hope. She i« his thought. She
is his prayer. She is his all. Now
since wonutn is so dear to man let

suffering than at
i ls there,
with woman, and woman alone.
Man is not what God intended him
for without a woman. It wa* intended
by an omnipotent God that woman w'as
to be a companion, a help mate and
by her to make this sublunary gphete
a blissful paradise. Woman has it iu
her power to make earth a heaven
or hell. Oh, lovely 'woman, let nte
entreat you most mcicifulty to make
it a lieaten. Oh, how happy woman
ought to be to think and know’ she
exerts such power over ui:m. The
very flowers strive to look g;ty in her
sight. The birds seem to sing
sweeter when she is near. And now
why should she not strive to make
all around her happy. It ie, we know,
within her power.
Lip* of love, oh, me the blessing,
What, but for their sweet caressing,
Ware thiB tear-stained world of ours',
Lips of love have soothed the wean ,
Lius of love have blessed the dreary,
Making life’s wild pathway cheery
With sweet smiles and sunny hours.
We should strive hard to make
those sweet, faces wear those sweet
smiles they have now. We should
remember woniai. is of love and it
takes love to keep them alive ; they
are like unto vine tendrils, they art-
always looking out for something to
cling to, and that something is big,
ugly mail. Oh, h:ippy man who
possesses ti e hear! of a true woman.
