Judge Henry M. Beach, of Colum
bia, Ala, has been in the city this
week. Judge Beach is one of the old
citizens of Bainbndge coming here
from Quincy, Fla,, when lie was just
entering upon the estate of manhood.
During his long residence here he
was among the most prominent citi
zens of this comity and held various
positions of honor and trust. Among
these was the oflicc of Ordinary which
lie filled for a long term of years. Mu

Mrs. Mollic Weathers Brown died
at her heme near Lake Dopglas last
Sunday morning. She had been ill
only two or three days previous to
her death. She w as the sister of
Misses Annie and Julia Mills, and
has always enjoyed the esteem and
respect of a large circle of acquain
tances. Iier sudden death was a sad j
surprise to the whole community. A
large number of people attended the
funeral rites which were held at the
Baptist church by Rev. W. L. Rich
ards, the pastor.

The matinee races at the track last
Tuesday evening were very m cli
enjoyed by those of our citizens who
attended. The follow ing horses took
part. Lucy Hal, the Graham mare,
five heats, the Graham mate winning
three. Lila Sprague, Raymond F.,
Maud Mills; Lila won each of these
hea’ts but the race was not lacking
in interest. Messers Patterson, Toole
and Swank did the driving. An ad-
mis ion of 25c was changed at the
gale6 and the sum of twenty-three
dollars was realized. It is hoped that
our enterprising horsemen will ar
range for another of these matmees
before long.
