Dr. J. H. Sessions, of Eldorendo, was
a pleasant visitor to Brinson Saturday-
evening and night last. The doctor is
looking well and reports business good

Our farmers are beginning to "lay by"

The ice cream supper given under the
auspices of the Ladies Aid 8ociety last
Monday evening was a success from

last Friday on business.

with friends in this place Sunday.
Mr. W. E. Sikes,-.of this place, now

ing quite a large business. ~~
Our public school at this place wi'l
reopen on the 24th inst. We hope it
may prove a very, interesting and suc
cessful term.
Present indications point to a fairly
good corn crop, and our farmers will
have a good supply 6f porkers,' We do
not expect to suffer even if cotton is a
failure.

Wednesday morning last and will
bo here for eight days.
Prior to their arrival, preparations
had been made for tholr coming,, by
tbe placing of water, feel and lights
in ready' The oamp which was
olmstenfcd ‘'camp T. S. Hawes” in
honor of the faithful commander of
tbe local' company, is one of the
prettiest camp sites that possibly
could have been secured anywhere.
It is situated on a high bluff of the
river and is ope vast' shade. The
race track enclosure adjacent affords
excellent parade grounds, and the
boys have a baseball diamond with
in a few yards of the camp.
Company 1, Bainbridge ludepond—
euts, went into camp Tuesday, a day
in advance of the remaining compa
nies. This’' was done that they
might have everything -in readiness
for the coming of the visitors.
The catnp is not so large from a
numerical standpoint as had been ex
pected, but it is the general opinion
of the men and officers in charge Chat
tbe encampment will be one of the
most successful in the history of the
4th Georgia. Our uiticens are turn
ing out every afternoon to the drills
in great numbers and are trying to
impress upon onr visitors tbe hospi
tality of the town.

General Artier No. 1—-First. The
headquarters of this command' are
temporary removed to Bainbridge,
where the oonfpanies have assembled
for the purpose'of an annual encamp
ment. This camp'will be officiallv
known and designated as Camp T. S.
Hawes, in honor ol the gallant; and
efficient commander of Company I,
and to qrhoae seal and untiripg ef
forts in behalf of this encampment'
unstinted praise is due.
Whilst this is in a sense a volun
tary encampment in *,hat the exponse
thereof is borne by the individual
members, still it must not be forgot
ten that it Is a military encampment
and as such will be striotly conducted
Officers and men will nt all times he
curefnl to sustain the reputation of
the regiment for soldierly bearing,
(military courtesy and gentlemanly
deportment.

Eighth. Pusses to be absent from

Tenth. Tjie bringing, in or
sale of spirituous liquors within the
limits of the camp is prohibited.
Eleventh. Gambling in all its
phases is prohibited.
Twelfth. Passes to * be absent
from’camp after retreat must beep-
proved by the regimental command

Capt, Wheatly of the U. S. army are
the guests of the encaifipracnt. Lieut
John D. Little of the 3rd’ batallion
arrived m the city .Wednesday and
has gone regularly into camp.
Tbe sham battle which will no
doubt be well attended from the
country as well as the town, has been
arranged to take place Monday eveqr
ing at 4 o’clock on the parade grounds
The general line of conduct will be
an attempt on the part of the Infan
try to dislodge the artillery which
will be stationed on a rise in tbe
northern part of the grounds and
will be jn full view of the grand
stand.
The soldiers have been very order
ly and are conducting themselves as
gentlemen, Very few arrests have
been made.
Tue 4th regiment band is furnish
ing the music, and v we hear -many
complimentary remarks indulged in
by men and officers praising the
work done by this band. There are
few such organizations of its age
that have made tbe showing that tbe
boys do.

Andrews, a highly respected citizen
