THAT COLTiT tlWUSK SITE.
re is considerable comment
ite selected tor ths new court
I find that a great majority ol
xpayers of our county are in favor
old site. 1 think they are justi-
tliinking so. We me sure it will
g mistake to erect a court house
site which has been selected by
movable Board of Commissioners,
teselected Is undesirable for many
is; it is surrounded by dwellings
.her wooden buildings—it is to be
m the (jjrner of two streets with
ny grounds to surrouud it, and
ng two business blocks. The size
lot will allow an encroachment of
ndof buildiugs|that;partios would
to erect, and they would be in
lose proximity to the court house
hey would be a continual annoy-
o the court,
re would be no grounds for our fel-
ountrymen to loiter oil, and m
for holding public sales. ■ nly on
tblic streets. I am sure this would
istake that, could i.ever be reme.
t this building is put on this site,
a few years there is ro telling the
would put the taxpayers of the
1' to. to remove obstacles that more
kely would be placed around 'lie
tig. It would necessitate, in a tew'
the buying of more ground, which
'l- in all probability, be improved.
ii- would be a heavy burden upon
iixpayevs, in order to relieve the
I ot disturbances which would be
btutly around.
"V sa'i-fv nine tenths of the tax-

A Good Woman Gone.
Mrs. Mary Bolton, wife of Rev.
Enoch Bolton, deceased, was born
August 15th 1821, and departed this
life June I0th, 1901. Her husbnul
died some years ago, leaving her to
stem the battles of life alone, and
this she did nobly. At the time ot
her death she was living with her
son, Mr. J. W. Bolton, of Iron City,
Ga. She leaves five children—three
sons and two daughters, and a host
of friends to mourn her departure.
In her early years deceased be
came a member of the Methodist
church, remaining at all times a con
sistent member until she came to
j 1,-ori City, when she joined the Free
i Will Bapt’Ht church, to which she
I belonged at the lim i of her death.
| At all times she remained consistent
: with the views of her church,
J We join with many friends in
J sympathy for the bereaved relatives
who mourn but not as those without
i hope. May her children follow in
I her footsteps and nrofit by her good
i example. May God bless them.

Flora&ora Concert.
On Tuesday evening of the 4th.
Mrs Boen Belcher with her pupils
and other'dramatiB personae enter
tained the theatre-loving public with
a brilliant concert.
Tbe programme was formed of a
tew selections from the bright “Flor
adora” opera, so popular in New
York last winter; and other select-
tions equally us artistic. There we'-e
two choruses from “Floradora”
which were especially attractive.
That of the’title, “Pretty Maid”,
composed of young ladles and gentle
men in sentimental attitudes, and
singing sentimental songs to each
other, hkd all acted sentiment was
very pretty and graceful. The aud
ience recalled them three times.
The other was the Spanish Chorus
performed by the children who were
perfect and very pretty in their difli-
rent cosLumes.
Mrs Belcher whose voice during
the past winter has been under the
control, of Mme Kleuner of New
York City, sang several ejections;
the “Shadow Song” as a debut; and
:in an encore, “Nymphs ami Fauns,
sung into fame by Melba. i Both of
these are incomparable for display
ing the flexibility of the 1 voice, con
taining the highest ranges; and to
h ive mastered them, shows the ben
efit derived by Mis Belcher from her
brilliant instructress.
Miss Ethel Fleming and Mrs Bel
cher sang “Light at Evening Tide”
adapted to the‘'rmislc of the immor
tal Interne zzo of Pietro Mascagni.
The oilier -Individual work was
done by Mi-s Pohiman who sang
“Loves Philosophy”; and as an en
core, a facetious little song called
“Susan D” and Jolm-nee”, which
quite caught the audience. Miss Al-
lie Golden Clioil sang “Swallows”
her voice is very soft and of delight
ful quality. Miss Delanesaug “When
IJleave town” and as an encore read
“Socrates Snooks”. While 1 believe
everyone in the caste had great his
trionic ability. Miss Delane while
on the stage indicates more than any
one.
To all of these songs and choruses
Miss Holder who presided at the pia-
noj.played the accompaniments beau
tifully.
Mrs Belcher gave a reading of
•La Zingarella-The Gypsy Girl”,
following the intepretation of the
great Italian painter, Corregio, who
has made the story so famous on
canvas.
Mrs Belcher is to be highly con-
g:a u hi ted for her skill in arranging
so difficult a concert, and for the suc
cess she made of it, winch requires
dramatic genius to produce. Quin
cy and Dothan have both requested
that the concert be given in then-
theatres. Bain bridge has also asked
that i be repeated here during en
campment week.
