Edwin Patterson was the inaugural
play that appeared before the foot
lights at the new Guthrie opera
house. Tbe semi-bumau characters
were well taken and touched the
heart of the audience, especially was
Mephisto while he was hated, he was
comical at times. Mr. Hubert Laba-
die did justice to the character. The
human characters were also well re
ceived, Miss Mary Von Tromp made
an excellent Marguerite. She was
graceful, innocent and had a kind
and gentle voice. She portrayed her
role well and brought forth some
Sue acting. The entire company were
up to date and the scenic effects
made the production one of the finest
ever presented upon tie stage. Man
ager lteder’s orchestra rendered some
exeellent selections under the leader
ship of Prof. Lehrer.—The Oklaho
ma Slate Capital.

Supreme Court was in support of the
contention o,f the commissioners who
were seeking the removal.
The decision is of course filial and
the question is now left entirely in
the hands of the commissioners, who
will no doubt, proceed at once to the
construction of the new building on
the J. P. Williams corner near the
Hotel Bon Air.
A great deal lias been said as to
the fitness and unfitness of the site

is not probable that any further
effort will be made to have them
change their announced intention.
Individually, we have good reasons
for thinking the old site the proper

Board of Aldermen, and who has de
clined to make the race on either of
the two tickets in the field. The
Administration ticket, headed by the
present mayor, John E. Toole, has
fillel the vacancy by placin' in his
stead Mr. E. T. Hines, who has serv
ed the city for many years in the
capacity of mayor and alderman, and
whose administration while mayor
elicited nothing but the highest
praise from all classes. The ticket
new stands as follows:
For Mayor—John E. Toole.
For Aldermen—W. W. Wright,
L F. Patterson, H. B. Ehrlich, E.
J. Willis, T. S. Hawes, E. T. Hines,
This ticket is composed of some of
the strongest and best men in Bam
bridge, men with long experience in
city affairs, and who have for many
years administered and conducted
the affairs and business of the city
of Bainbrjdge. Among the candi
dates tor alderman are three ex
mayors of the city, who are all fa
miliar with lhe work upon which
they expect to enter again, in case
of election, and all of whom are ably
fitted aud eq lipped to give a good
and honest administration.
