Dr. G, W. Sheppard, of Quincy,
Fla., passed through here Monday
on his way home. He has been un
der treatment for his eyes in Thom
asville, under Dr. T. M. McIntosh.
Thursday evening Miss Jessie
Parker entertained the young peo
ple of Climax, given in honor of
Miss Tessa Smith, of Camilla. The
evening was an ideal one. A guess
ing contest was held and Mr, Paul
Trulook was the winner. Miss Hat
tie Bailey, of Tampa, and Mr. Mar
shal Mays, of Bainbridge, were pres
ent. Games were indulged in, ice
cream and cake were served. The
evening was among the most delight
ful ones spent by the young Climax
ites during tne season.
The Fourth at Colquitt.
To-morrow the people ot Col
quitt and Miller county will hold
their big annual barbecue and
Fourth of July celebration. This
is the biggest event of the year
for the Miller county people and
everybody in the county goes to
colquitt on that day to feast and
frolic. Congressman Griggs and
Col. Y. L. Watson, of Moultrie,
have accepted invitations to speak
and will furnish the usual patriotic
orations. Other speakers will also
be heard. Many Bainbridge and
Decatur county citizens will attend,
Colquitt never does things by
halves, and a genuine old-fashion
time may be expected.
