Mr. J. H. Brinson and daughter

Miss Mattie Funderburk who has
been teaching at McRoaville, has
been at home two weeks on a visit
to relatives.
Mr. J. J. Wildei, of Alabama, is
on a visit to the family of Mr. S. J.
Warren and we understand that he
will probably open up a first class

Mrs.S. Brinson was called to
Cairo last Saturday on announcement
of the serious illness of her sister,
Mrs. Maxwell who lives near that
place.
The death of Mr. T. A. Russell
which should have been reported
last week from this plaoe, has ouea-
sioned muoh sorrow. Mr. Russell
was tbe son of Mr. W. W. Russell,
deceased) and had been a sufferer fur
many years. His remains - were
buried at Mt. Zion cemetery along
with others of the family.
The community is preparing to
erect a handsome new school bouse
here and it is hoped to have it ieady
for occupancy by the time the sohool
opens in September. Brinson al*
ready has a couple of th& nicest
churches in the country and we
may expect the community to oome
up to the standard on her sohool
build ng.

ing their authorities to clean up and

season. As this is the unhealthiest
time of the year onr sanitary depart
ment should be vigilant, enforce the
laws of sanitation, and gnard tbe
health of the citizens. Cleanliness
is next to godliness and we wonld
have a godly city.
Hon. J. L. Hand, the leading spirit
of Pelham, the one man alone who
is responsible for its rapid growth
and prosperity, was ia the city Mon
day. Mr. Hand believes in taking
care of the farmers’, interest and
does it through his big supply store
and bank. He will lend the farmer
money, aell him goods on time and
give him a market for everything he
may grow on his farm. Pelham has
a good trade and she is entitled to it.

We can’t understand why it is that
when any one marries in Climax
they want to keep it a secret and
let it leak out—unless it is that they
are ashamed of their better half or
dread the sernade. We kinder think
it is the latter; and agree with the
ones who have said marrying is a
serious thing-
