OUR NEW TEMPLE OF JUSTICE.
It gives us pleasure in this issue to present to our readers a good picture
of Decatur County’s palatial new home. It is now ready fbr furnishings which
will be put in as soon as possible and then the county’s family of clever officials
will move in and go to housekeeping.
It may be safely said that there is no where in the country a more beauti

A large share of the credit is due to our enterprising Board of County
Commissioners. By a remarkable system of financiering they have Jmttt and
presented to the county a $50,000 court house on a decreasing tax rate and not
a dollar of indebtedness to the county. This achievement has not an equa in

A thief entered the governor’-
mansion this week and purloined
his |li 5 Panama hat, an ivory
handled umbrella and two boxes
of Havana cigars. He had evi
dently a fancy for the governor’s
hat. and we have no doubt that he
would also lik£ to stand in the
governor’s shoes.
The fruit growers and nursery
men of Georgia are in session this

With a taxable increase of
scarcely less than a halt million
dollars, Decatur leads the counties
of the state outside tbe large cities
of course. This figures well for
our county and should prove an
eye opener to the rest of the state.
C P. Johnson, colored, offers a
reward of $100 for the person who
wrote him a card, dated Aug. 4,
1903, ordering him to leave Bain-

Bainbrldge Plays Ozark.
Ozark’s champion ball players
came over Tuesday for a series of
three games with the Bainhridge
team. It was rumored ttat Ozark
had beaten every team in Alabama
and came across the river in search
of new worlds to conquer. Tuesa
day’s game had hardly'begun be
fore our boys found tbe Ozarkites
to be easy things, Their pitcher
was batted out of the box into the
pea patch, score 12 to 2.
Wednesday the visitors pulled
themselves together a little and
gave the home team a run for
their money. The fans were very
uneasy in their bleacher seats dur
ing the first part of the game
when the Ozark’s little men were
safely in the lead. But tbe mighty
Jack came to the rescue and pitch
ed them some curves they had
never read about in their blue
backs and pulled out the victory
for the Georgians, to the tune of
11 to 9.
Thursday’s game was interfered
with for a while on account of rain
but was played to a finished on
rather a wet field. The Ozark’s f
did their best but failed again to
connect with Clarkls warm curves.
Score 9 to 1 in favor of Bainhridge.
The three games were pulled
off without any serious squabbles,
as the umpire was honest and
fair in his decisions to both sides.
The attendance being small, the
manager, G. A. Jaques, came out
the loser on the finance side.
The next series of games of the
season will be hotly contested on
the Bainhridge diamond Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday of next
week with Camilla. It will be a
swift game as some of tbe best
players of South Georgia will be
lined up on both sides. Let all
the town turn out. and support
the honie boys. \

Handsome Office Building
Col. John E. Donalson will
elect a modern office building in
the neighborhood of the new court
house. Plans are now being drawn
by an accomplished architect and
the outward appearance will be
beautiful and artistic. It will be
two stories high and both floors will
be arranged for offices single or
en suite and they will fitted with
all the latest improvements. There
has been great demand here for
for a building of this character
and the enterprise of Col. Donal
son will be greatly appreciated. ^
