The official vote for Governor
j has been announced irom Atlan
ta. Ihc figures tell quite an in
teresting story of the campaign,
in that they show Joe Hill Hall
to have been much weaker, in
the state than many thought
him to be. It also shows that
Hooper Alexander received more
votes by far than were conceded
to him by many who had pledged
them selves to Slaton, and who
also thought that Alexander
could not possibly get more than
ten thousand votes because he
came out so late in the race.
Here is the official vote as an
nounced from Atlanta.
Slaton, 110,143; Alexander,
10.998; Hall, 24.314.
Attorney General Felder re
ceived 116,344.
For Commissioner of Agricul
ture, Blalock received 49,771;
tJrown, 65,896; Price 66,403. '
For United States Senator,
Bacon, 107,056; Perry 61,178.
Mr. Alexander’s popular vote
was one of the largest ever re
ceived by a defeated candidate
for governor. It was only a few
thousand less than that received
by Governor Brown when he
was nominated for his last term.
Mr. Alexander was in the race
for practically twelve days. If
he had been given two more
weeks time, according to the
way he was running he would
have swept Slaton and Hall both
from the field. It was the moat
remarkable race for the length
of time ever made by a candi
date' for governor of Georgia,
