Dear Mary:--
I am simply joyed to my eyebrows with the new
heater I bought yesterday. It’s an ornament to our
home and gives out such wonderful heat. Why, I
can scarcely miss the fuel it' burns, either; it will
pay for itself in one winter.
You just put on your hat and run over and see
my new heater “at work" and you’ll Want one just
like it.
Your friend-HELEN.
P. S. I got my new heater (they have ranges
too) from

Stolen From a Thief.
Consider the Editor. He wear
eth purple and fine linen. His
abode is among the mansions of
the rich. His wife hath her
limousine, and his firstborn
sporteth a racing car that can
hit her up in forty flat.
Lo! for the people falleth over
each other to hand him money.
A child is born unto the wife
of a merchant prince. The
physician getteth twenty-five
golden plunks. The editor write'
th a quarter of a column and
telleth the multitude that the
child tipped the beam at nine
pounds. Yea, he lieth even as a
centurion. And the proud fath
er giveth him a chromo.—nit.
Behold, the young one grow-
eth up and graduateth and the
editor putteth into the paper a
swell notice. Vea, a swell notice
He telleth of the wisdom of the
young woman and of her ex
ceeding comeliness. Like unto
the rose of Sharon is she and
her gown is played up to beat
the band. The dressmaker gett
eth two score and four ducats
and the editor getteth a note of
thanks maybe.—maybe.
The daughter goeth forth on a
journey and the editor throw-
eth himself on the story of a
farewell party. If runneth a
column and the fair one remem-
bereth him from afar with a
picture post card that costeth
six fora jitney.—sometimes.
Behold, she retumeth and the
youth of the city falleth down
and worship her. She picketh
one, and io! she picketh a lemon.
But the editor calleth him “one
of our most promising , young
men,” and getteth away with it.
And they send unto him a bid
to the wedding feast and be
hold! the invitation cards are
printed in a far city.
Flowery and long is the wedd
ing article which the editor
printeth. The minister getteth
ten bones. The groom standeth
the editor off for a twelve
months’ sumscription.
All flesh is grass and in time
the wife is gathered into the
silo. The minister getteth his
bit. The editor printeth a
death notice, two columns of
obituary, three lodge notices,
ten verses potery and a card of
thanks. And he forgeteth to
read the proof and the darn
thing cometh out: “Gone to Her
Last Roasting Place.”
And all that are kin to the de
ceased jumpeth on the editor
with several feet. And they
taketh out their adds and cancel-
eth their subscriptions. Canst
thou teat it?
