The Economist will publish the pro
ceeding of the meeting in full nt xt
week. The following delega‘os were
elected to the State Convention, em
powered to appoint their own alter
nates: Dr. J. J. Bridges, James M
Bradley, James T. Laboou and James
L. Mobley.
In another column we publish a le*.
ter from Col. Henry P. Farrow, post
master at Gainesville, Georgia, and
chairman ot the executive committee of
the Republican party of the 9th con
gressional district. Col. Farrow is on
the right line in advocating the great
fundamental principle on which our
form of government is established, viz:
That all the people of a government
who help to pay the taxes and bear the
burdens of that government ought to be
allowed to cast their ballot and that bal
lot to be counted. This doctrine appeals
to every man who honestly and eou-
scientiously believes in a democratic
form of government.
When Col. Farrow was at Jefferson a
few weeks ago, The Democratic organ
of this county, published at Jefferson,
mentioned bis risifc to that town, aud
among the many complimentary things
it said of him, had the following:
'•Col. Farrow is a Republican from
Honest convictions, believes in the prin
ciples >f the Republican party, but i?
Con?- • Mtive and Liberal in his views,
is a < i .FAN GENTLEMAN ami a man
of FA R vORDINARY IN TELL 1
GENUS.”
The Economist endorses what, the
Herald says of Col. Farrow, and thinks
that, his views as to the duty of every
voter in Jackson, Hall and Banks, so
candidly, fearlessly aud ably expressed
in the letter above mentioned, demon
strates beyond controversy that he is
conscientious aud a mail of extraor
dinary intelligence.
An Old Allianceman’s
Views on che Situation.
Gainesville, Ga., March 30, 1900
Mr. A. G. Lamar, Chairman Populist
Party Jackson county Ga.
Winder, Ga
Sir:—As an old Allianceman and one
who was honored with the Presidency
of the County Alliance of my county
for two or three years (Lumpkiu county
then,) I have steadfastly felt a deep in
terest in tl e welfare of the legitimate
child of the Alliance—the Populist par
ty—though I have never affiliated with
it. From the first appearance of the
Populist party in Georgia, I have stead
fastly urged my Republican friends to
side with it in its warfare on the de
moralizing methods and practices of the
Democracy of onr state, but the money
used by the Democracy in the open
purchase of votes, without regard to
color, has beeu effective in the past in
too many instances, while corrupt and
fraudulent returns by and through their
procurement have done the work in
other localities.
In my humble judgment they have
opened a movement which they have
not men enough nor money enough to
inaugurate successfully in this State;
and all good and true men who believe
that all intelligent and uprignt tax-pay
ers of whatever nation, tongue or kin
dred ought to have the right to a voice
iu their government, should stand to
gether on the issue thrust upon us.
If tho Populists of this Senatorial
District will be prompt iu accepting the
issue, and will nominate a candidate
for the Senate in this district, I think
we will have no difficulty iu bringing
every element of the Republican party
in til' district to his earliest support.
And il candidates for the Hl>u3o of Rep
reieutatives and candidates for ali coun
ty offices in the three counties in this
district are nominated by the Populists
of the repspective counties on the
same line —that those who pay the tax
es required of them and thus bear the
burdens of the government should have
a voice iu that government in so far as
to have the right to vote and have that
vote honestly counted, I believe that
we can bring to your nominees the
unanimous support of the Republicans
of thes three counties.
The Democracy will soon see tho er
ror they liavo committed and will take
the back track on the action of their
btate Committee in so fi r as relates to
the color, line iu its Application to
primaries for Legislators and County
Officers, or inevitable defeat awaits
them in a large number of counties
throughout the State. I hope you and
those associated with you iu th con
troll of your party policies will give se
rious thought to the vital questions
herein presented and open fire on the
enemy before they voluntarilly retrea*,
that you may see a most lu herons
stampede under fere.
Let your motto be “Those who bear
the hardens of the Government must
have a voice in tho Government'’ and
victory will be yours.
Very Respectfully,
Henry P. Taurow*

Doctors were scarce, and they seldom

THE GREAT SPRING MEDICINE.
JOHNSTON’S SARSAPARILLA as a Blood Food and Nerve Energizer, is the
greatest SPRING MEDICINE ever discovered. It comes as a rich blessing b°nj
heaven to the “worn out,” the run down, the overworked and debilitated. That
feeling,” those “sinking spells,” the langqor and despondency which arise from bad.)
ished nerves, from thin, vitiated blood and an underfed body, vanish as if by a mag
spell. The weariness, lassitude and nervous prostration which accompany the spur-g

neurasthenia, and all ailments of the brain and nerve, insomnia, hysteria and nervousness
generally, it is almost a specific. It furnishes the very elements to rebuild worn-out ner s
tissues. It feeds brain, nerve centers and’nerves, calming and equalizing their aCll ° n '
