Miss Eddie Maud Wei burn, of
Atlanta, is spending some time with
her sister, Mrs. .Jeff Sikes.
Mrs. B F. Fortson, of Arlington,
is in tlx* city for a. week's stay with
Mrs. Jeff Sikes.
Prof. Fred G. Dakin, of Winder,
is in the city singing at the meeting
which is now in progress at the
Christian church. Great crowds
are attending the meetings to hear
both Mr. Dakin sing and Mr. Shel
nnt preach.
The many friends of Mrs. McDon
ald arc delighted to know that she
has recovered from quite an illness
and is now able to be out.
Mi'S Mamie Pendergrass lues been
suffering quite a bit with the grip.
Everything is very dull and busi
ness is quiet, as the farmers are do
ing their level best to get all the
| cotton planted that they can pos
sibly find time and space to plant.
The grain crop ifi this section is

new machinery in his gin building.
The Statham grist mill is now in
operation.

Mr- aud Mrs. Berry Thompson,
of Bogart, spent Sunday here.
On Friday morning about 4:00
o’clock Mrs. T. A. Caruth was
found dead in her hod. Her death
was unexpected, although she had
not been in good health for some
time. She was about 80 years old
at the time of her death. She was
buried at the home burial ground
Saturday at 11:00 o’clock a. m.,
Rev. J. F. Logan, of Crooked Creek,
conducting the funeral services.
Mrs. Caruth leaves six sons and two
daughters, several grand children
; and a host of relatives and friends
to mourn her demise We sympa
thize with those who mourn in this
sad hour of bereavement.

moving on. Rev. J. R, Huff

Sunday morning at 9 o’clock. Ev

A Medal of Blood.
Garibaldi was once presented with a
medal made of bis own blood. The
giver was Dr. Manini of Naples, who
was well known as a petrifier and pre
server of the human body. Dr. Ma
nini in offering his gift to Garibaldi
said that whenever the general looked
at it it would brace him up for the last
fight, and across the medal were en
graved the words, "The Blood of Gari
baldi Is Forever Red.” The strange
siedal is preserved by the general’s
descendants.
