A. H. Smith, administrator upon the
estate of J. R. Wright, deceased, hav
ing filed his petition for discharge, this
is to cite all persons concerned to show
cause against the granting of this dis
charge, if any they have at the regular
term of the Court of Ordinary for said
county to be held on the first Monday
in August, 1916.

NOTICE OF LOCAL) L EGISL ATION
An act to amend the charter of the
City of Jackson, approved Aug. 8, 1908,
and the acts amendatory thereto, so as
to extend the corporate limits on the
south limits of said City of Jackson by
adding thereto the Fair Grounds to said
corporation.
Also to amend said charter so as to
give to the City of Jackson and its au
thorities and representatives and au
thorized agents the right to sell and to
extend its water pipes and mains and
electric lines beyond the limits of said
city and for other purposes.
Also to amend said charter of the
City of Jackson, approved Aug. 8, 1908,
and the acts amendatory thereto, by
amending section 39 of said acts by
striking out the words “fifty” dollars
and inserting therein the words “two
hundred” dollars.

be allowed to operate stores or stands
of any nature whatever during the com
ing meeting, without first making
written application and receiving per
mit signed by the Secretary and Presi
dent of the association. Form of appli
cation can be had by calling on I*. C.
Benson. The law is on our side and
violators will not be permitted to
operate.

During the absence of Mr. Russell,

will have control of the Jackson office.

FIRST FARMERS BANK
ELECTS OLD OFFICERS
The annual meeting of the First
Farmers Bank was held Monday,
at which time officers were elected
for the ensuing year and other
business attended to. Three new
directors were elected by the
stockholders, Messrs. L. P. Mc-
Kibben, F. M. Maddox and R. E.
Evans.
The directors elected the follow
ing officers: L. 0. Benton, presi
dent; J. C. Jones, first vice presi
dent; R. E. Evans, second vice
president; J. B. Carmichael, cash
ier; W. H. Wilson, assistant cash
ier.
The directors are: Messrs. J. C.
Jones, L. O. Benton, C. B. Biles,
G. F. Etheridge, C. R. Carter. J.
B. Carmichael, R. E. Evans, F.

The earnings of the past year
were passed to the undivided
profits account. The First Farm
ers is Jackson’s newest bank,
having been organized in July,
1912. The capital stock is $40,-

The officers and directors are
composed of some of the leading
business men of the community
and the outlook for the next
year’s business is said to be most
encouraging.

Drew Washington, Monday.
