FLOVILLA
A rally in the interest of the third
Liberty Loan was held Saturday.
Lieut. E. Miles of the Canadian Army
& hero of Vimy Bridge, and Hon. J.
Q- Nolen, of Atlanta, made stirring
speeches during the afternoon. Much
enthusiasm was displayed. The quota
*as $16,000 and $25,000 was sub
scribed. There was a parade by the
Flovilla high school including some
v ery attractive floats and decorated
cars. A band from Gordon Institute
furnished music for the occasion.
Mrs. Lucy Douglas was a visitor to
Msccn Monday.
Beautiful
The “Preferred Investment”
The wise man selects his motor car
investment in much the same way
that he selects a first mortgage bond
or any other high grade security.
He looks for permanent, enduring
quality —not mere surface veneer.
He looks to the integrity of the
manufacturer, the critical expressions
of the average owner and the history
of the product over a period of years.
It is on this basis that we would have
you consider the Paige.
I
From the standpoint of initial cost,
our’s is not a cheap motor car.
There are many cars on the market
that sell for less money than the
Paige and we could readily build them
ourselves if we considered that the
best policy. But we don’t.
We firmly believe that self-respect,
comfort, and enduring satisfaction
have an actual market value. So we
build those things into our product.
We take just a little more time—just a
little more care in the selection of
materials —just a little more pride in

our work. And the result is a real
motor car —not a makeshift or com
promise.
In brief, while we agree that first cost is
an important consideration, we are
convinced that Ultimate cost is vastly
more important.
We believe that the only true test of
economy is twelve months of hard,
gruelling service on the road.
We believe that freedom from repair
bills and excessive depreciation is
infinitely more desirable than a mere
catch-penny list price.
These are our convictions. We have
held to them staunchly during many
fitful periods in the motor car indus
try. So long as the Paige Company
is a factor in the making and dis
tributing of motor cars, v/e shall
continue to adhere to them.
And it is because of these convictions,
and their practical application to
manufacturing, that the Paige car is
regarded as a “Preferred Invest
ment” in every automobile mart of
the world.

METHODIST MEETINGS
TO RUN THIS WEEK
The series of revival services at the
Jackson Methodist church will prob
ably continue throughout this week.
So far no announcement has been
given out as to the closing.
Very general interest is being dis
played in these meetings, which are
being conducted by the pastor, Rev.
S. R. England. His unusually strong
sermons have appealed to all classes,
church members and visitors, and sev
eral additions have been made to the
church.
Inspiring music continues to be a
helpful feature of the services which
are held at 10 a. m. and 8 p. m.
SORTING MACHINE REDUCES
COST OF HANDLING MAIL
Speed, accuracy, and economy, the
prerequisites of efficiencey in the
mailing divisions of our big post of
fices, are raised to a nev high level
by a remarkable mail-sorting and as
sembling apparatus described and il
lustrated in the May Popular Mechan
ics Magazine. Until recently it has
been necessary to do all this work by
hand. With the machine, which in
handling first class mail serves about
the same function as does the lino
type in the planting industry, labor is
reduced about 50 per cent, and an ac
tual saving of 30 cents per thousand
letters effected.
Conveyers bring letters direct from
the cancelling machines to feed ta
bles, where power-operated chains
move them into the reading positions
before the operators a srapidly as tho
latter can dispatch them. A separator
at each of these places, embadying
the essential principles of the cancel
ing machine, counts and records the
number of letters handled, and im
prints on each a character identify
ing the operator. The practicality of
the machine has been demonstrated
at the Chicago postoffice, where a
model, with a single keyboard, was
used experimentally for about a year.
