Mrs. Sutton’s
Final Rites
Held Saturday
Mrs. Sara Crawford Sut
ton, of 557 South Mulberry
Street, died Thursday, June
17, around noon in the
Griffin-Spalding County Hos
pital following an illness of
several weeks.
Born July 15,1894 in Monoe
County, she was the daughter
of the late Charles Lee Sutton
and Fannie Hansford Sutton.
She was a member of Paran
Baptist Church in Monroe
County.
Funeral services were
conducted Saturday after
noon in the chapel of Sherrell
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Lannie Smith officiating.
Interment was in Paran
Baptist Church cemetery in
Monroe County with Sherrell
Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by
a son, Billy Sutton of
Jackson; daughter-in-law,
Mrs Sylvia Sutton of
Jackson; several nieces and
nephews, including Mrs.
Esther Allen and Mrs. Bessie
Brown, both of Ft. Myers,
Fla. and Mrs. Dorothy
Gunnels of Forsyth; Allen
McMullen of Columbus.
Pallbearers were W. L.
Holloway, David P. Ridge
way, Sr., Randall James, J.
C. Gregroy, Donald R.
Womble 11, and Andy Kinard.
Bobby Dendy
Buried Here
On Friday
Bobby G. Dendy, 46, of
Route 1, Jackson Lake,
Monticello, was pronounced
dead on arrival at Sylvan
Grove Hospital about ten
o’clock Wednesday morning,
June 16th. He was retired
from the Atlanta News
papers, Inc. where he was a
photographer for 22 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy.
Born in Gadsden, Alabama
on June 3, 1930 he was son of
the late Leonard Dendy, and
Mrs. Ethel Baswell Dendy of
Conyers, who survives.
A member of the Atlanta
Press Photographers Asso
ciation, one of Dendy’s
photographs ran as a
two-page spread in Life
Magazine.
Survivors include his
widow, the former Frances
Tiller; daughter, Miss San
dra Dendy of Atlanta; son,
Barry Dendy of Monticello;
mother, Mrs. Ethel B. Dendy
of Conyers; sister, Mrs.
Martha Ann Lemon of
Decatur; mother-in-law,
Mrs. Elizabeth Tiller of
Atlanta.
Funeral services were
conducted Friday afternoon
at three o’clock from the
chapel of Sherrell Funeral
Home with Rev. Lamar
Guyton and Rev. Preston
Bridges officiating. Inter
ment was in Jackson City
Cemetery with Sherrell
Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Ves
Lunsford, Hugh Stovall,
Marion Johnson, Charlie
Jackson, Neal Kilby, and
Allison Brown. Honorary
pallbearers were Charles
Burris, E. W. Gibson, Doug
Gibson, and Sterling Duck
worth.
