to serve as a member of the
State Crime Commission.
Banks, a prominent at

million dollars to criminal
justice projects statewide.
The Commission also serves
as an advisory board of the

State Crime Commission,”
said Banks. “I have been
extremely interested in the
work of the Crime Commis

forward to making a mean
ingful contribution to its
objectives.”
Banks will bring some

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1977
TO THE
CITIZENS OF
BUTTS COUNTY
(1)
Did you know that the Georgia Legislature passed a local law
and-or statute for Butts County in 1969 (Ga. Laws 1969, page
2664) to provide that certain cost in Criminal Cases in the Court
of Ordinary of Butts County would have to be used for the
purpose of maintaining the Butts County Court House?
(2)
Did you know there is at the present time approximately
$10,000.00 in the special fund for the improvement of our County
Court House which the present Board of County Commissioners
are refusing to use for this purpose?
(3)
Did you know the present Board of County Commissioners are
now seeking to have the above subject law changed so they can
use the money which has accumulated for the improvement of
our Court House for remodeling of the County Barn located near
the County Sanitation Fill (County Dump) on the Brownlee
Road?
(4)
Did you know the present Board of County Commissioners will
not present this Law to the Voters of Butts County for their
approval or disapproval for a majority vote by the registered
voters?
(5)
Did you know there are many improvements which our Court
House needs at the present time? Such as, (a) new windows;
(b) anew roof; (c) bath room improvements; (and) anew
electrical wiring system; (e) anew heating system; (f)
additional office space for the Superior Court Clerk's office, and
many other repairs and improvements.
(6)
Don't you think the County Court House, which is located in
the center of the Business District in the City of Jackson should
be kept in a Good State of Repair? And, that the improvement,
maintenance and upkeep of the Butts County Court House
should be among the top priorities of the County Commissioners,
and they should keep it improved in a good state of repair with
good bathrooms, etc., and this should come ahead of the County
Barn, located near the County Dump?
(7)
There was a movement just a few years ago to demolish the
County Court House and make a parking area where it is now
located. Let's don't let this happen again.
Please contact the Butts County Representative and County
Commissioners and get them to leave the law as it now is, and
fulfill their duties and responsibilities they owe to the Citizens of
Butts County under Ga. Law 1969, page 2664.
Respectfully yours,
DAN FEARS
