Dear Friend
I ara going to make
a resolution for next
year. Mama ha.s left
the buying of the gro
ceries to me, and I
have made up ray mind
that ail of the next
year I am going to go
just to one place to
get our groceries, be
cause I never have to
make a trip back with
something Mama doesn' t
like, and she says we
don’t have to pay too
much where we trade
for what groceries we
buy.
Your friend,
Jacob.
P. S. A store al

them all to make a world. With
out poverty there would lie no
riches; without sorrow there would
l>e uo happiness.
The infinitesimal part that each
individual plays in this great uni
verse should teach us that we are
hut a bubble ujx»n the great ocean
of humanity; yet each one of us,
however humble or insignificant, is
an integral part of that great mass
of humanity, that the all wise God
has created for some purpose. Af
ter all, despite our cries of hard
luck and the usual attempt to
charge our Unlucky Star with our
many misfortunes, we get that
which naturally comes to us through
the unerring laws of nature.
looking backward through lives
crowded with failure, with only here
and there a silver lining to the
cloud, is it not true that it takes
only a moment’s reflection to see
that we have reaped only that
which we have sow::?
We have passed the first year of
our newspaper experience. If we
have welded one link in the golden
j chain of friendship, or added one
potato the hope and prosperity of
TI IE COCUff Ay jOUPySAI.
! our community, we are profoundly
j grateful. If by commission or
(omission, we have wounded the
feelings of our fellow-man, we feel
sorry and ask our friends to spread
the mantle of charity over our foi
bles. With renewed hope and un
bounded confidence let us make
1911 the banner year in the history
of our lives.
