IT’S FOOD
That Restores and Makes Health
Possible.
There are stomach specialists as
well as eye and ear and other special
ists.
One of these told a young lady, of
New Brunswick, N. J., to quit medi
cines and eat Grape-Nuts. She says:
"For about 12 months I suffered se
verely with gastritis. I was unable
to retain much of anything on my
stomach, tind consequently wus coni'
pelled to give up my occupation.
“I took quantities of medicine, and
had an idea I was dieting, but I con
tinued to suffer, and 6oon lost 15
pounds in weight. I was depressed
in spirits and lost interest in every
thing generally. My mind was so af
fected that it was impossible to be
come interested in even the lightest
reading matter.
“After suffering for months I de
cided to go to a stomach specialist
He put me on Grape-Nuts and my
health began to improve immediately.
It was the keynote of a new life.
"I found that I had been eating too
much starchy food which 1 did not di
gest, nnd that the cereals which I had
tried had been too heavy. I soon
proved that it is not the quantity of
food that one eats, but the quality.
"In a few weeks I was able to go
back to my old business of doing cler
ical work. I have continued to eat
Grape-Nuts for both the morning and
evening meal. I wake in the morning
with a clear mind and feel rested. I
regained my lost weight in a short
time. I am well and happy again and
owe it to Grape-Nuts.” Name given

GEORGIA
NEWS
Moultrie.—The chamber of com
merce of this city has been compiling
facts and figures of the business done
by various concerns during the past
year, intending when it has been com
pleted to utilize them in advertising
the town and county. Between the
first of January, 1910, and the first
of Janaury, 1911, over sixty-three hun
dred carloads of freight were unload
ed in Moultrie, this number being
solid car lots. It has been shown
that more than $175,0000 was spent in
this city for live stock by the farm
ers and turpentine men, every dollar
of which was spent with local stock
dealers.
Macon. —A freeze would totally de
stroy the Georgia fruit crop. Every
where in this section the trees are
iri full bloom and the orchard own
ers are very uneasy over the next
change in the weather. The fruit, if
killed, means a loss of $10,000,000 to
Georgia.
M illedge ville.—The city's popula
tion, as shown by special enumera
tors employed by Milledgeville, shows
an increase of 1,098 over the govern
ment’s returns, making a total of 5,-
483. This does not include the school
population of nearly one thousand,
mostly girls, attending the Georgia
Normal and Industrial college, nor
does it include the state sanitarium,
in the suburbs, with approximately
two thousand people. Of course the
patients at the state hospital, number
ing 3,400, are not included.
Albany.—Notice lias been received
by the city and county authorities
that the Griggs memorial tablet, or
dered several months ago, and to be
placed in the government building
here, has been shipped, and should
arrive some time next week. The
tablet will be placed in one of the
walls of the lobby of the postofilce.
The building, which will cost about
$125,000, and is now about 70 per
cent, completed, was secured for Al
bany as the result of Congressman
Griggs' efforts, and is the first Feder
al building for which dirt was broken
in the Second district.
Valdosta. —The farmers of I>owndes
county are alarmed over the prospect
of an enormous increase in the acre
aeg of sea island cotton as indicated
for the coming season. At a meeting
of the Se.a Island Cotton Growers’
association, held here, resolutions
wpre passed urging the farmers to
substitute short, staple cotton or other
crops, and hold the acreage in long
cotton below that of last year. It
is understood that the farmers who
have not heretofore raised long cot
ton to practically any extent, are pre
paring to put in a large acreage.

Atlanta. —The prison commission
has declined to make any recommen
dation for clemency in the case oi
the three Rawlins boys, Milton, Leon
ard and Jesse, who are serving life
sentences for complicity in the killing
of the Carter children, near Valdosta,
several years ago. According to
Chairman Davison, the commission
declined to recommend clemency oh
the ground that more time should
elapse before any recommendation for
clemency is made, and that since the
boys have served only five or six
years of a life sentence, it is too early
to consider granting a pardon.

Hla Head Was Hard.
It Is a oommon belief that the ne

The following story told of a promi

would seem to Indicate something of
the kind, anyhow. Two negro men
were employed on tearing down a
three-story brick building. One ne
gro was on top of the building taking
off (he bricks and sliding them down
a narrow wooden chute to the ground,
some thirty feet below, where the
other was picking them up and piling
them.
When this latter negro was stoop
ing over to pick up a brick, the former
accidentally let one fall, striking him
directly on the head.
Instead of its killing him, he merely
looked up, without rlßlng, and said:
