On Monday the populists will hold
a mass meeting in the court house
for the purpose of nominating county
oflicers.
To-morrow will settle, the question.
Some will laugh, ethers will lament,
but if you are beaten boys take it easy.
Remember all cant be elected at once.
Mr. Elias Hinson is tire latest man
on the ticket for Tax Collector. Mr
I-linson is an honest, honorable gen
tieman and if elected will no doubt
make a good officer.
ihe Willacoochee Minstrel- played

.Messrs. Jesse and Seward Eott and
Bcnajah Peterson returned from the
North yesterday, Seward returning via
Hazleliurst. Outside of the excessive
heat and a little seasickness they hod
a good time. They say the heat and
politics are hotter up there than in Hie
South, and that free silver is winning
favor rapidly,
Of course, the vote of to-morrow
will not show the strength of the de
mocracy of the county. Many dem
ocrats, on account of their personal
regard for some of the candidates op
posing one another, will not express
themselves in the primary, and
many more are willing to vote for the.
democratic candidates in October,
whoever they may be.
It is now almost a certainty that
?.ir. Dan Lott Sr. will enter the race
f or Representative on the populist
ticket against his brother. The old
man has had a number of opportuni
ties since the war to run for Represen
tative when lie would have been eeii
tain of election ; but he has per, is ten t
)v refused every proffer of the place
lip to this time, and, now, he comes
out in plain opposition to his brother
and in the very face of defeat. It is a
peculiar incident and smacks of jeal
ousy. He will be beaten by 300
majority.
