The State Agricultural Society will

it is rumored that the republicans
will put out a white ticket next Satur
day.
One who indulges in champagne at
night usually has real pain next
morning.
The populists of Colter are determ
ined to bows the registering this year.
That’s hoggish.
According to Ifon. Thomas E. Wat
son, the principles of populism arc all
right, but the populists aro a sorry lot.
The pops are in a quandary. It is
amusing to hear them guessing and
predicting as to what the democrats
intend to do.
Georgia has worn the college oratori
cal championship of the south. When
it comes to rod hot oratory Georgia is
hard to head.
The democrats of Codec will put
out a good ticket this year, one that
will be satisfactory to every citizen
of the county.
“The war,” says the Indianapolis
Journal, “has completed the work of
reconciliation so nobly begun by the
Georgia watermelon,”
It is the DI’TY of every democrat
in Codec county to patronize the
Breeze. We need and must have the
patronage of our friends.
Burdett's “Tongueless Liars” in the
current number of the Ladies’ Home
Journal shows that the writer knows
all about the perversity of human
nature.
It is intimated at Washington that
Aguinaldo has kicked over the traces
and that, if we retain the ITiillipines,
it may be necessary for General Mer
ritt to give him a Hoggin’.
The transportation of a captured
aimy to its own country, hv its con
querors, will be something novel in
the history of war, But In le Sam
does not follow precedents, lie makes |
II N FOREIGN I’US.”
Some of the people of our county
have fallen into tin; bad habit of cuss
ing “furriuers ” If a man is not a
native of this county, it matters not
how good a citizen lie may lie, he can
not he elected to office. Whenever Lis
name is propost and some native is sure
to remark . ‘ He won’t do; lie’s a d —n
‘furriner!”’ We have known this to
occur a number of times.
One docs not have to come from
Spain, Manila or the Hawaiian islands
either, to be called a “d—n furriner.”
Everyone who hails from an adjoining
county even, is objected to in (his
way.
A certain who came from the north
ern part of the state, hut who has been
a citizen of Coflec for several years,
was thrown off of the populist nomi
nating committee Monday because he
was not a native oi the county. This
is not ri, 'it, and this one occurrence
will damage the party in this county
When a good, upright man conies
here and easts his lot among ns, we
should take him into full fellowship
and treat him as well as we treat our
selves.
The Breeze, trusts that the democrat
ic party will make no such mistake as
tliis. Let’s do away with this unholy
prejudice against the foreigner and
give him an equal showing with our
selves when it comes electing officers
for our county.
IKACIO TALK.
There is every indication that we
shall soon have peace.
While there seems to he no dclinitc
news of the surrender of the Spaniards
it is believed in Washington and Lon
don at this writing that Sagasta will
“come across,” as it were, and accept
the terms proposed by President Mc-
Kinley.
It is generally believed that Spain
has made up her mind to accept the
principal conditions of peace. And if
she does a peace delegation will be
chosen at once to confer with repre
sentatives of the Coiled States.
The people everywhere say the
peace terms are not only reasonable —
they are very liberal, and if the pesky
dons don't accept them of course
we will have to whip 'em some more,
that’s all.
A great many peoplo say the new
populist ticket is no improvement on
the old one.
The Hero.
On who never turned tils back, but marched
breast forward,
Never doubted clouds would break,
Never dreamed though right were worsted
wrong-would triumph,
Held w e fall to rise, tire baffled to fight better,
Bleep to wake.
—Browning.

is thought that he has appendicitis.
A colored child died in Broxton last

Mr. Dan Batten has overhauled Mr.

Mr. Frank Giles left for his home
near Hawkinsville Monday.
The lightning did a little damage
one day last week, hut not of a serious
nature. It struck Mr. E. Todd’s stove
flue and blistered his daughter’s foot.
On the same day it struck a stove flue
at Denton making dust of the brick,
passed through the floor and killed a
hen and some biddies. Another fork
passed along the ceiling to the main
part of the house and shocked Mrs. A.
F. Huggins.
Since the organization of the strang

There is no disease more uncertain in It*
nature than dyspepsia. Physicians say that
the svrnpioini of no two eases agree. It is
therefore most difficult to make a correct

Bud management keeps more people
in poor circumstances than any other
one cause. To be successful one must
look ahead and plan abed so that
when a favorable opportunity presents
itself be is ready to take advatage of
it. A little forethought will also save
much expenses and valuble time. A
prudent and careful man will keep a
bottle of Chamberlin's Colic, Cholera
and Diarrhoea Remedy in the house,
the shiftless fellow will wait until
necssity eouipclls it and then ruin his
best horse going sor a doctor and have
a big doctor bill to pay, besides; one

The Pipiili-t eont,i ilflß/v?
Douglas Monday to nominate coimß
officers, but, there seems to be a serious
split somewhere. Until the idea pf
the “furriner is eliminated, it will be
difficult for any party to become very
prominent. Native talent is all right,
but when the “furriner” is better we
should look to principal and not to
nativity. A “furriner” was not allow
ed on the nominating committee.
