Eddie, infant son of Mrs. Ellen and Capt.
J. F. Craft, died on Thursday evening a
little after sunset. It had suffered for sev
eral months incessantly. At the first the
attending physician. Dr. Ebcrhart, was of
the opinion that the child had gotten some
foreign substance into the air passages that
penetrate the lungs. After the child's
death, a post mortem examination was
made by the physicians, and which result
ed in finding a small piece of hickory chip
in the left lung. This caused the lung to
inflame and finally resulted in gangrene.
The whole lung on the left side was a mass
of gangrenous matter, and it is woudeful
how the child lived as long as it did. which
can only he accounted for by the healthy
condition of the right lung. The child was
interred in the cemetery on Friday evening.
The entire community sympathizes with
the bereaved.

We learn from the last Elherton Gazette
that a gentleman in that County has anew
organ. Since they have the cars running
theie. we would have supposed everybody
had an organ. There is scarcely a cabin
in Hart that has not an organ, a sewing
machine and a cook stove inside, and light
ning rods on the outside. The rage now is
for top-buggies. Everybody that can raise
forty dollars, and don't drive a steer, has
one. This has been a fine winter for auc
tioning them off—the weather has been so
dry that the glue stands well; however,
after the hard rain a few days ago. we saw

reminded one of castoff lioopskirts. Bet

our country of the burden that is daily
riding its moral status to the plains of in
famy and disgrace. We would say fur
ther that we endorse the selection made
by the I.’, S. Marshal of the State for this
district, and believe that he has at last got
the right man in the right place—a man
that will not pay any attention to the
twaddle and threats of these infamous
vagabonds and outlaws, hut w ill go upon
the discharge of his duty resolutely and
fearlessly. Mr. I>. arrested one Aaron

We learn that Geo. C. Grogan. Esq., lias

in the l . S. Court. Mr. I>. arrested one
Jeff. Brown on last Thursday. He found
Brown m the field at work with a couple
of pistols by his side. Mr. I>. waited pa

Brown having no suspicion of anything
came quietly along up to the corner of the

When Brown found that he was about to

Brown positively refused, at the same time

whose aid Brown succeeded in gelling

where the town of Howersville is. hut as I
| haven't the time now, you can just tel! him
1 that I have lived long, traveled far ami
wide, late and early, through rain, sun

plenty, experienced war and famine, have
felt the earth quake, seen the stars full
and gazed with wonder upon the aurora

were running mountain-high, have witness
ed the Hashes of the forked Ifithlniiig and
heard with fear and t cmbling the roar of
heaven's artillery, have beheld the beauties
of virtue ami refinement, have looked up
on the horrors of vice and ignorance, have
been mystified and astonished at the strange
notions, fancies, dispositions and diameters
of the people 1 have met; and now. after
having roamed so long and wandered so
far away, I have returned to my native
country, the place of my birth, among the
people I know, who glide along down the
journey of life quietly and soberly, and
who are moral, intelligent and refined, and
thought I had done meeting curious people
—done flouring strange stories about the
mysterious Workings of the mind of man
and tin; wonderful developments of nature
—but alas ! my dreams have passed, my
vision ended ; strange to relate, sad to feel
and mortifying to know that there was one
human being in all this country that did
not know where the town of Howersville
was situated ; didn't know that there was
hut one Howersville ; that there never was
hut one village, town or city in this part
of the country called Howersville and that
this is the place. There was a country P.

more yet, we have railroad ami steam

The only way to cure catarrh is by the
use of a cleansing lotion, applied to the in
finmed and diseased membrane. NniiltV
and fuinigators. while affording temporary
relief, irritate the affected parts and excite
a more extended inflammation. Besides,
no outward applications alone can cure ca
tarrh. The disease originates in a vitiated
state of the blood, and a thorough altera
live course of treatment is necessary tore
move it from the system. Dr. Sage’s Ca
tarrh Remedy lias long been known as an
efficient standard remedy for this disease,
but. to insure a radical and permanent cure,
it should fie used in conjunction with Dr.
Fierce's Holden Medical Discovery, the
best vegetable alterative yet discovered.
The discovery cleanses the vitiated Mood,
w hile the Catarrh Remedy allay* the in
