The important events that have
transpired in this month surpasses
all others. It was during February
that the first President was elected
the Southern Confederacy was form
ed. Jeff Davis was elected President,
George Washington was born, Abe
Lincoln was burn and muskets first
iiseil in Fiance. A great many
other things too tedious lo mention
happened during tins month.
"happy souls.
It was evening, and thoy sat on a
bench in the tho park. Sho was
u confiding young girl, and ho
looked a-weary.
"Angus,” she said, as the wind
pla} fully stirred the leafy branches
Overhead, “I have been tiguriug. ”
“Yes”
•HJu how chotiply wo can live.”
“Cert.*
“I can make a pound of brown
sugar lost, us a whole week.”
"Can you ?”
“Yos, dear.”
There was a long silence, broken
at last as he gave a sudden start
and exclaimed:
“ Yes. but who’s to eai n if?”
She promised to^ take in sewing
and support bun, and happiness
came stealing through tho park like
a gleam of silver light, and thoy
clasped hands and woro very quiet
—and it was Bottled—and they will
wed.—Ex.

(Communicated.)
We have bud a three days rain
and everything looks as wet as a
drownded rat in a millpond, I recon
oor oats will come up now. 1 am
glad to see that more oat? have been
sown in our neighborhood this
season that usual. We farmers want
to get into tins diversified crop
business mighty bad. We talk about
economy, everlasting cotton and
credit and guano business, this
eternal mule driving to town after
supplies until we have the blues,
dumps, head and heart-nebe. We
want to advance backward to the
good old drydofyt re when peace and
plenty reigned supreme. Those
good old log-rolling times when
neighbors were not ashamed to
visit each other and go to church in
jeans and homespun clothes, and
drir.a water out of a gourd raised at
home. The greatest trouble with us
is how to get back to the good old
times. I toll you this Alliance bus
heisa has waked up a good man v of
the farmers from a mesmerized
spell to realize that this fiom one
hundred to five hundred percent
for goods on a credit is the
ruination of our country and
that they had better let the credit
business alone and pay cash as they
go. When they once gel down to a
eash basis will be better off The
farmers will reap the benefit and the
merchants too, for they had rather
•ellior cash any day, and the result
will bo peaoo and prosperity all over
the land. Z.
