in this capacity for several years

R N Ethridge is a candidate to
success himself as Sheriff. For
several years Mr Ethridge has
served the county nr this capaci¬
ty and that he has served her
welj is evidenced by the fact that
he is kept in office. He not on¬
ly makes a splendid officer but is
one ol our biggest boddied, lug-
hearted citizens.
Mrs Luke Roberts died at her
horns near Robeitsville last
Thursday morning. She was sick
but a short while and her death
was a shock to ths entire com¬
munity. She was a woman of
many beautiful traits of charac¬
ter and beloved by all who knew
her, We trust some one who
knew her well will writs a more
extended notice of her deuth.
R H Kingman, Jr, is again in
the race for Clerk of Superior
Court. Mr Kingman has filled
the office one term and it is said
of him that the county never had
a better Clerk. He and his assis¬
tant, Giles Bonner, keep a neat
office and their work will bear the
closest inspection. Read his an -

Messrs Cliff Holsenbeck and
Jim Ross viaited friends and rela¬
tives in the upper portion of the
county last Saturday and Sunday,

The serenade given us last Sat¬
urday night, by the young men of
Gray and Bradley, was very much
enjoyed and wo only wish tlifry
would soon repeat it.
Well, if the young ladies of
Clinton can’t catch the boys they
can the mumps, although we feel
sorry for them, we think the
young men would lie more pleas¬
ure to them than the mumps, but
they don’t think so and wo are
glad that we live in a country
where every body can be accom¬
modated.
