BIRTHDAY PARTY
We herewith extend a most kind invitation
To you and your friends or any relation
To come to a party. This little silk sack
Is intended to furnish a good place to pack '
As many pennies as you are years old.
We promise the secret shall never be told.
If Methuselah’s age would be the right sum
Of the years to which you already have come,
If objections to exposing your age should arise,
One hundred would be a splendid disguise.
A musical programme of very rare merit
Will be given to those who will just come and hear it.
We’ll give you good cheer for the weak inner man
And many interesting things for you to scan;
We’ll meet young and old with greetings most hearty
As you come, one and all, to your own Birthday Party.

Grows More Tangled.
Athelis, Ga., Oct, 11.—As the
ime for the general election
Taws near the political situa-
ion in the Eighth district with
■eference to the congressional
ace between Hon. S. J. Trib-
hie and Hon. W. M. Howard be¬
comes more and lively. A few
days ago the leading feature of
this most unusual campaign
was the talk of holding a second
white primary. Now the latest
development in the matter is a
circular letter, which is being
distributed by the Tribble fac¬
tion today, which shows signed
statements from strong suppor-
iteis ot both Mr. Tribble and Mr
Howard, asking Mr. Howard to
come out of the race. The let¬
ter is signed by J. R, Mattox,
Elberton, a Howard man,
and Q. L. Williford, of Madison,
a Tribble man. The direct
cause of the letter was that in
his speech at Madison Mr. How¬
ard stated that i f certain offi¬
cials of Elbert county would de
c ] are that the "votes which were
thrown out in the recent inves¬
tigation were cast ty legal and
registered voters he would come
out of the race immediately.
These statements have been se¬
cured and presented to Mr. How
ard, according to the letter re¬
ferred to, and he has not as yet
withdrawn from the race. Inas
much this speech of Mr.
Howard’s was reported in The
Madison Advertiser verbatim,
there is much speculation as to
what bearing this new turn in
the matter will have on the out
come, and whether or not Mr.
Howard will really come out of
the race, as stated in the speech
ne made at Madison.—Georgian
