The Supreme Court yesterday
affirmed the conviction of Tom
Shirley, a negro who was convict
ed of murder at the March lerm
of Franklin Superior Court. This
means that Franklin will have a
hanging, the first in most half a
century, unless the Governor
changes the sentence to life im¬
prisonment As we wiite this
